Post subject:  Shock & Horror: The disgusting gore of Rook's Keep!
In case you haven't been seeing the revulusion of Rook's Keep's gore in the twitter posts, I'll post it here too.

Some of the effects that have been added are:
-Blood sprayed on character materials from killing enemies
-Blood sprayed on character materials from nearby kills and body explosions
-Blood jets and surface splatters when hitting characters with weapons
-Blood on character materials from injuries
-Blood Pools left by dead bodies
-Bloody Footstep marks after walking in said blood pools, stepping on gibs or wading through dead bodies.
-Blood on feet area of character materials from walking in bloody things

This is perhaps the most gory game we have made so far.. Although the environment pools and splashes might not be as large as those in The Crucible or BW, the character blood is way beyond anything else!!.. :D

Looks good, but I think the real impact of such gory violence actually comes from reactions of the victim. While BW has great gore effects, the reaction of players/bots that get hit or killed is so plastic and fake that it takes most of the fun out of it for me. This is why I loved Soldier of Fortune back in the day, you really felt disgusted due to how painful the in-game victims made the violence seem like combined with the great effects (for that time).

I'm quite satisfied with how the animations are as they stand, at least to the best of my current abilities :D They don't just insta-ragdoll on death (with the exception of the Rooks powerful hammer-blow).

Those SoF guys were hilarious :P

As you can see things are getting quite bloody. ShadowBlade put an awful lot of effort into making the dozens of blood
masks for all the various ways blood can get on their materials. Those maniacs are equipped with one hell of a shader.
We've also now got footprints that resemble the feet that made them.
Still a fair bit of tweaking to do though.
