Yo, we've been working on the HUD for Rooks keep and I could use some input from you good minions.
Basically, just take a look at these screenshots and try to identify the various HUD elements.
(Ignore the rubbish in the top left corner, that's just debug shit)
If we've done our job properly, they should be fairly simple.

FYI, this is a basic Deathmatch gametype.

Looks nice. I'd say that bar on the bottom is healt, the number on the circle is level and the curcular bar around the red circoe would experience progression? Or something like that. Where is the kill count?

If the shots are wider than your screen, make sure you scroll.

FYI: I'm not telling everyone whet everything is yet. That would sort of defeat the purpose of this effort...

Oh, yeah, those things in the upper right, one is probably goal (100), another top score, and another your kills. But it doesn't really go with the lower left corner.

I like the HUD elements in the bottom left, though the ones in the top right are considerably less detailed. Right now they're just colored squares with text, and I bet you guys can make something awesome that changes depending on your species and what not.

Health meter is EZ to read with peripheral vision.
I agree with Sgt. Kelly the other stuff is kind of generic, the health meter is ornait their not.

From left to right to down, I think:
goal score, player score
score of 2nd player

lvl, exp
health


I really like how the health meter looks, but I feel like the UI is slightly off-screen. The lower border of the health bar isn't visible, while the top one is. I wonder how it would look if the UI was moved just a slightly bit to the top&right.

Here we go, the HUD has been improved.
We've given the health section a more finished border on the screen edges and the score section has
got a much better style.

Looks awesome! :D

They're a bit small though, but maybe that's better to save screen space.
Maybe make the health bar somewhat longer. ^_^

We'll certainly think about changing the size, but I think that's something that'll require more lengthy testing to fully resolve. We may actually just include a HUD size option because people have different preferences and different screens. ;)

The health bar length actually varies to represent just how much maximum health your character has. In those shots, I was a bishop and pawn which have less total health than other characters. If you take a look at the previous shots, you'll see that the ogre and knight are tougher.

The kill counter looks a lot better. But I'm not sure it really quite matches the lower left. Primarily the borders don't looknquite consistant with each other. I can't quite place it though, but they dont quite seem to match real good.

^Agree.
The Light sorce (reflection) is from a different angle.
I think the skull pushes everything down to far.
