Plus I might be having an issue with my firewall on windows 8--so I don't know if my server is being advertised whether it's a listen or dedicated. |

Dedicated can only be run via command line. Did you host it from the game? |

Beyond that, there's a possible problem with Windows 8 and dedicated servers being investigated at the moment. Launching the example dedicated server bat file under \Help as is will create a dedicated server, and it will be advertised online barring other issues. If you're doing that and still can't find your game, then it's likely the mentioned Win8 issue is causing problems.  A solution for this, when and if it's discovered, will be posted under the support thread in due course.
