Post subject:  Workshop levels save in slot0

Hi guys! I noticed some undesirable behavior from workshop levels. The first workshop level I save after installing the game will overwrite Save0.sav. After that, workshop level saves get numbered normally. Is this something that a workshop map creator has control over?

I noticed this with v1.06 when I subscribed to my first workshop level, but again with v1.092, because I got new hard drives and had to reinstall the game from scratch. I also noticed that after clicking "Save" there was a period of several seconds (20 maybe) where it seemed the game wasn't responding. I alt+tabbed out then back in, and the save was in Save0.sav, which overwrote my Caduceus save. I had Save1.sav and Save2.sav already, so it wasn't choosing the first available slot, it specifically saved in Save0.sav.

Thanks in advance for any insight, and for a wonderful game that I'm (still) enjoying very much!

Hmm, it's possible that if the workshop level's "Level Properties" makes use of the "Save Setup" value, then yes it will(by default) overwrite the save file "Save0.sav".

There is very little reason to use a unique Save Setup object for your workshop level unless you plan to make a separate level save chain. Essentially allowing your level to save its info outside of the normal "Save#.sav" structure, giving you a degree of power to implement saving between your levels.

It's most likely that whoever's workshop level this is, they probably added the "Save Setup" object, but didn't change it, thus causing it to overwrite a single save file instead of using the default method.

If that's true then the easiest workaround is to make a duplicate save of whatever is in slot 0 before saving a workshop level. Some of the oldest levels are abandoned, and I haven't tried the newest ones. I'd have to delete all workshop levels, then resubscribe to test each one. Workaround sounds much easier. :P
Thanks for the reply!
