Post subject:  Office Help with Bob Notes

I was doing the long tour of the Bob Achievement. I had 6 of 9 letters and when I returned with the 7th letter to my office, I only had 4. I tried saving and returning and nothing changed. I reset my office in a last futile attempt. It didn't work and now I must start over, now with a filthy office. I was keeping them "downstairs" on a shelf away from the main room. I didn't want them to accidentally mix up with reports or other paper work.

I don't mind trying again (a bit disheartened) but any thoughts on safe places to keep the letters until done? I don't want to save them in the blue crate because I'm actively using it for other things.

Also if it is at all possible to rescue the previous letters? Are they hiding somewhere and there's something I can do to "retrieve" them?

Hmm, they really shouldn't be vanishing out of nowhere. But, it is possible that they got tangled up in other physics objects, that can lead to such issues.

If they have vanished, there's no real way to "recover" them without making use of the save backups.
Fortunately, the game makes periodic backups of your collected items in case just such a thing happens. To recover your items, simply go to the game's installation directory under "\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Viscera\Saves\Backups\"
Under there you will find a series of time-stamped files, simply copy the one you feel is correct to the "Saves" folder and then rename the file to "TrophyDataCollective.sav". You will probably have to either rename or delete the old one.

When you load up your office again, you should find your collection restored. Just note that anything brought back to the office after that backup was made will be lost. So it's best to restore sooner rather than later. :)
