Hi, I have a problem with Junkwar. I use Ubuntu Linux and installed Ballistic Weapons mod 1.70 plus the Patch 1.72. Now I've tried junkwars but there is no junkt to choose. I can enable the mutator and configure it, but the list where the junk should be (I guess) is empty at all. I've screwed the order of installation the first time but cleared all files in the .ut2004/ folder and installed it correctly the second time. Is this problem known? How can we fix it? |

Ummm...Linux.... It doesn't sound familiar, we'll have to see what the devs say, unless someone else has any ideas... BTW, Welcome to Runestorm

Yup, everyone seems to be waiting for that flamethrower

Well the most likely problem is that somehow the JunkWar.int file is missing. Check your UT2004\System folder and make sure JunkWar.int and Junkwar.ucl are there. If not reinstalling would fix the problem, but if it doesn't try using ZIP install of JW and you should be able to make sure everything is in the right place with that.

@DarkCarnivour Was also my first idea, but I've checked it twice and tried to install the mod using the zip file instead of the umod file. My JunkWar.ini and JunkWar.ucl is present and fine. There is also a graphic bug if I try to configure the JW mutator. The top of the window is shifted. [br] Here you can see that all the Junk entries are missing (I assume there should be some) By the way, could someone post a screenshot of a working window? @ShadowBlade I'm not from South Africa, more from central Europe, from Austria. How did you know ubuntu is from South Africa but didn't know that it is NOW the most propagated Linux Distribution on Home PC's? |

DC is DarkCarnivour, who is the genius behind all the programming for the mod... We're from SA, and yes Shuttleworth (who is a famous SA computer chap and billionaire) is promoting it, and yes it is taking off all over the place
Can you maybe try WoRM ? maybe that will work, at least it will give us an idea...also if you just accept and play, is there any junk in the game? @DC, it could be a filename reference thing..linux is slightly different in paths, and is VERY case sensitive with filenames. |

Did you use an autoinstaller or the manual install mod? |

@Adrastos.. u say the .ini and .ucl are there.. is the .int in the system folder? |

Wow, this are a lot of questions. I will try to give some answers. In my System folder are JunkWar.ini JunkWar.int JunkWar.u and JunkWar.ucl, and they seem to be fine (I mean they are full of text)
I've installed it with this command ./ucc-bin umodunpack -x JunkWarv110Beta.ut4mod. After several tries I downloaded the zip file and copied all files in the right place. I've tried the option to use only Junk as weapon but there was nothing at all. I didn't even had one weapon. Was really funny all the bots were running around without anything *lol* The last thing you've alsked was this WoRM thing. I don't know what it is. Some debugging tool? If you could expain it a little more I will give it a try
The idea with the case sensibility is a good one. Maybe some model paths are wrong. greets Adrastos |

By the way, it seems to be that I am not the only one who is pretty pissed to have no junk to kill, there are also the bots
[br] Yeah, this is how the situation looks like. I've disabled some GUI things such as the weapon bar, but there is nothing so see anyway. |

Me again. I've solved the problem, but the solution was somehow primitive and drity. If you install UT2004 on Ubuntu you get two directories. The game itself is installed in /usr/local/games/ut2004. This is the basic installation a user don't have to touch. Ubuntu policy. The user itselfs gets a hidden .ut2004 folder in his home directory. So if I install a mod with the ucc-bin command the system creates the mod in my home directory and not in the system directory. This worked fine with all mods, except JunkWars. JunkWars has to be installed manually (with the zipped files) in the /usr/local/games/ut2004 directory. For Ubuntu and other linux user I guess this is not a common procedure so it was the last thing I've tried, because it spoils the original installation and should not be possible for ordinary user anyway. Now everything is working quit fine with JunkWars. But as I said this is not the common way of mod installation. If you could be so kind and fix it, a lot of ubuntu users ,including me, would be very grateful. |

so its fixed..? dunno whats wierd about our install.. nothing strange from what i know
has BW worked for u? |

Yes, BW worked just fine. I have a slight idea. Is JW using same files as BW? Because the ucc tool can't overwrite files. So if a file needs to be updated or replaced I have to do it manually. I recognized this when I was updating BW from 170 to 172. |

It's the JunkWar.int file. I've deleted all mod files from the /usr/local/games/ut2004 and figured out that when the JunkWar.int file remains the mod works fine. Afterwards I've compared the Junkwar.int file with the Ballistic.int file and found a coherence. The [public] section seems not to function. I had key binding problems after the installation of the BW mod and this is a line in the .int file public area. Object=(Class=Class,MetaClass=XInterface.GUIUserKeyBinding,Name=Ballistic.BallisticKeyBinding) Now after moving the Ballistic.int file in the /usr/local/games/ut2004 directory I can configure the Keybindings ingame. Could my assumption be right? |

I'm sure this is a linux specific problem and maybe not your fault anyway. |
