Speaking of the bulldog, do you think you might edit the primary firing sound?

So this bulldog secondary fire thingee is broken or no? what happens on mine is you hold the right click, the slide is pumped and then a rocket comes out. If you let go of the alt fire just before firing he only pumps it. Meaning he pumps the Frag 12 round in and then doesnt fire it, just fires normal 20mil rounds after that, is this a bug or do i just not get it? A fix idea is maybe the right click just loads a round instead of firing it, and normal fire would then fire the round in the chamber. I'm not sure if that is actually possible, i have no idea about coding or animation or whatever. I just play the mod. Still like the gun though. Sexy.

The gun's only partially coded right now, so what we have right now is definitely a placeholder. It's using SKAS-21 charging code and shoots AIMS-20 missiles.

Once I really get around to coding it I'll probably make it play the full animation on an alt click and then have it fire automatically once it completes. The projectile will probably get a bigger explosion effect and MGL trail so people don't think it's a rocket. (Which it's not.)

I'm also planning on making the stock and ladder sights toggleable with the special key which will affect fire rate and accuracy and stuff. We're planning a lot of code for this big guy.

After messing around a bit, I thought up a few ideas:

Bulldog:
- Why not have secondary switch to the grenade launcher, rather than having a 'charge-up'? Or would that make it a bit too super?
- Camo-wise, maybe have an alternate one which shoots standard shotgun shells rather than Frag-12s?

Can't wait for this one to be finished, it's really awesome.

SKAS-21
- Manual fire mode seems kinda... silly at the moment. Maybe it should have a smaller spread?
- Camo idea: shoots 12 gauge rounds instead? It's even mentioned in the description.
- Just bugs me moment: why the heck is automatic electrically driven? Most semi-auto weapons can be made to fire fully automatic without including electronics. The recoil of 10-gauge shells should be able to drive the firing mechanism. You wouldn't need to change any animations, just mention in the discription that only secondary fire and low-power shells require electric power.

By the way, any progress on fixing the SKAS-21 sway bug? Maybe you forgot a multiplication symbol in the code somewhere, I did that too many times to count back when I coded in Java...

Xav and I are still debating on how to have the grenade fire work. Rest assured that it won't stay like it is in its current format.

The camo patterns for this one are still up in the air, though we're definitely including a shiny silver one in the style of the Halo shotguns. Sadly, 12 gauge would not be possible due to the fact that you can see both ammo models in game and neither looks remotely like shotgun shells.


About the SKAS-21: Manual Fire should definitely not be underestimated! It does massive damage without the gas being diverted to the internal mechanisms. Each shot is like an accurate coach gun shot. Though magically reducing spread wouldn't make much sense.

To the second point: 12-gauge camo is already in game, actually. It's the one that sounds different. I might make a slug version though.

Lastly, the SKAS-21 is quite literally a rotary gatling-style cannon and is similar to the M61 Vulcan in many aspects. Like most modern gatling guns, the SKAS is powered by an additional energy source. In the case of the Vulcan it's a pneumatic system, in the case of the SKAS it's a powerful electric motor. Gas alone would not be able to cycle the heavy bolt, feed in a round from the mechanical ammunition drum, operate the recoil counter-weight, and rotate the massive barrel array. You can actually see the electric motor is working when the automatic cocking lever cycles back. (Looks like =|== )

When you switch to manual mode that generator gets shut off, which is why the barrel no-longer rotates, the automatic cycling cuts out, recoil increases and you have to manually operate the lower cocking lever. (The one you use when the gun reloads.)

Finally! Or more appropriately, perfect!

Now I can use the SRSM2 with bots.

Hm. Didn't really take a close look at them, thought they looked like shotgun shells. Maybe have some sort of shrapnel round, kinda like the standard UT flak gun's secondary fire? Or maybe mention some sort of specialized shotshell used with the weapon?


That... actually makes sense. I remember one game having a shotgun who's pump-action mode reduced spread somehow, I think it was the PC version of 007 Nightfire.

Points taken! Though one would think semi-auto could do it if you didn't have the barrel rotate, and maybe cut the recoil counter-weight's effectiveness... which means it'd probably kick like a mule.

Also, would it be possible to see some sort of 'mega' shotgun, like a KS-23? Probably would have a wide spread, heavy recoil, and severe chaos, and would be limited to maybe 3 or 4 shells in a tube magazine, but things that got in front of it would die fast. I know we sorta have one (the CAWS), but that's more of a cannon loaded with buckshot than a shotgun - or, if you want to get technical, you could call it a punt gun (it'd be between a 1/2 and A1/2 gauge).

And again, I implore you, find that freaking SKAS-21 chaos bug and stamp it out. Do you have any idea what's causing it?

There are actually quite a couple guns in this pack inspired by Nightfire (Xbox version), the REX Shock & Awe and AIMS-20 being two obvious ones.

Mega shotgun is probably not going to happen though. Like you said, way too similar to the CAWS.

Anyway, I'm looking into the code for the SKAS's errant chaos but haven't found out what's causing this. It might take a while!

I do think the SKAS (aka- Super Killing Assault Shotgun) does need a form of ironsights, as is, it's a pain in the ass. Even though accuracy isn't a matter with the SKAS, the way the sights are now is horrible. Same goes for the A94 Skrith Blaster.

I like the idea of secondary loading a grenade into the barrel with a single click rather than by holding it down, after that primary fires the grenade. When I think about it, the only way the bulldog can work is if pulling on the front handle un-chambers the currently loaded bullet and re-chambers a grenade in its place. There the grenade would just sit until fired.

Once the grenade is fired the bullet round would be moved into position again and primary fire resumes as normal, unless the handle is pulled again to load another grenade. This method would make secondary much more useful

Unless the grenades are going to be made much, much more powerful in which case the charge-up time might be necessary

Regarding alternate versions of the bulldog, I thought the grenades looked a bit like shotgun shells myself and could be textured accordingly. Differently textured bulldogs, each with different types of secondary munitions would make the gun pretty unique.

And, are the CYLO weapons ready? Firestorm and the normal one seem to be rather okay, I'm not sure, looks 80% finished. I just hope THAT'S not the iron sight.

I wish there was a way to change the alarm sound of the Recoiless rifle, it's very annoying. I prefer the old silent one second explosion.

Hah. I'll make a camo pattern which uses the old detonation style. That way you'll never know if it's gonna instantly explode or not. Heheheheh.

Hey there, I have followed this project for some time now (as some others aswell as I read ) and I also have to say: Awesome work. I am really enjoying these weapons, the AK-490 , the R98 hunting rifle, the Conqueror GL and the SKAS are my favorites and are used in almost every game.

I also like the CYLO weapons but I think they can be improved.
It might be just my opinion, but the gun should be a little higher in the view, compared to other guns of similar size, it seems to be held a little low. Also, I like that the CYLO assault weapon is a multi purpose weapon with it's melee attack and the shotgun part. Yet, I think that it should be a little less "defective", to me it almost seems underpowered compared to the others. Although it should still not work as good as the Firestorm version does.
And to me the gun looks pretty heavy, shouldn't the melee attack be more of a stab or at least light slash or am I wrong about the real weight?
And how about creating a custom ammo pickup for this which has both shotgun and regular ammo? I noticed that picking up another CYLO does not always increase the amount of shotgun ammo (or was this with the bulldog? I don't remember... )

I like the concept of the bulldog. Still, it seems a little wierd to me. I know that it is in alpha state as you said, just coded together, so don't take this as "you did that bad, change that" , ok?
I think the amount of ammo should be increased if this is planned as a weapon for invasion IMO. Also, it has almost no view shaking when walking around, compared to what it has when fired, this seems a little odd to me.
The alternate fire reloading is bugged like the LS-14's, although only sometimes.

Finally, I would like to throw in an idea for another weapon. Again, don't consider this wrong, not as a "Oh plz can u make thisss plzplzplz" - you know what I mean, this is just a proposal. I know that you are trying to get this finished and not starting more and more new ones. Anyways, this is my idea:

I have seen some models of that before and they are detailed enough to make them "ballistic", it has lots of parts that real guns would have aswell.
Technics wise I do see some problems though. I have looked through the internet and I did not find a free 3d model of that gun before.
Game interal technics wise it would be problematic aswell as it would basically have no recoil and no chance for jamming in theory, due to the way a gauss rifle is intended to work. The question would be if the weapon is made close to the original in the game (where the gun has a muzzle flash aswell, which it would not have in theory) or if it is done close to the theoretical one. The only negative point that would allow for some balancing would be that the gun would (again: at least in theory) get hot very quick if fired without pause and therefore maybe burn the operator.

Again thanks to all those who contributed to this pack and are still working on this.

Basic mechanics of the Bulldog work on the principal that the two rounds are approximately the same dimensions and therefore can use one firing mechanism for both. When rotating the handle, it locks it into chambering either the .75 BOLTs or the 20mm Grenades when the action is pulled back. When loading in a 20mm Grenade, it somehow magically forces the loaded .75 BOLT back into the clip and the 20mm Grenade moves into place. When it fires, the recycling mechanism simply loads in the next .75 BOLT as if firing primary fire.

We are definitely looking into improving secondary fire, and while having alt fire prep primary fire for a grenade might work, we're hoping to make it just fire on release for alt fire.

And a version that fires bird/buck shot is fairly unlikely, since we got about ten other shotguns to do that. It is pretty much a shotgun though, and a weaker version that fires 10 gauge slugs primary fire and buckshot alt fire would be cool to see some time. Can't guarantee we'd do that though.

And Barionyx, the mag capacity won't increase for Invasion's sake. This gun does serious damage, it doesn't need to be more powerful. Plus primary fire has splash damage anyways.

This has to do with the mod because whoever wins this will get the rare AH9001 or AH999 super pistol. If the Runestorm (our) side wins it'll be a pack weapon labeled "Community AH999", but if ABA wins it'll go into a pack for them as "Bad Ass AH1000". If there is no contest because nobody wants to play then everyone loses and nobody gets the AH999. (But me. HAH.)
