Just a heads up to what I've been doing for the past few days:


-Hand-grenades: The controls have been modified, using option 2 listed in a previous post. Primary fire throws overhand, charging to increase distance. Alt-fire is a weaker underhand toss or roll, with an uncharged throw dropping at your feet and a fully-charged throw tossing the same distance as an un-charged primary. Charging times for both modes are decreased, and all grenades can be thrown farther now. This should make grenades simpler to use, especially for those unfamiliar with BW.

-Hitscan weapons damage: Ranged hitscan weapons now do full damage up to a certain range (TraceRange.Min). Beyond that, damage linearly drops to minimum (usually 10% of max) at the maximum range (TraceRange.Max). You'll probably never notice this in-game, but I thought I'd share.

-FP9: Now with working directional blast. Working on the numbers and explosion effects at the moment.

-Recoil: Declines more slowly when recoil is low, and more quickly with high recoil. This would make it slightly harder to semi-auto snipe, and burst firing easier when looking down the sights.

-Fire anims: Disabled for some weapons (mainly automatics with stocks) when looking down sights, to make it easier to shoot dudes. Kinda looks weird with some guns, so this needs more work.


I'll probably release an updated version on the test server when I finish the FP9 effects.

If anybody wants the password to the test server, you should PM Sgt.Kelly as his weapon pack is undergoing testing on the server as well, and he's a little more restrictive on who should get to try his beta weapons. I don't really care myself, so it's only natural that he should decide who gets the password.


Some known online issues:

-A73 impact effects seem to infintely respawn if you fire them into a wall at point blank
-Minigun fires two streams of bullets for some reason. This exists on Kelly's minigun too. I'm not sure why this happens.
-FP9 explosion effects still occasionally do not show up.

This is because the gun fires too fast for the server possibly, and the way BW compensates for this is by shooting the minigun like a shotgun at times. Not all computers play UT at 60FPS, which is what's required to fire for 3600RPM and have a single bullet stream. DC coded this pretty well.

Yeah, I know how the minigun works, but I don't recall this happening with the BW''s original XMV850. It might have been something I did, as Kelly's XMB-500 was originally based on an older version of my tweaked minigun, though I think our two miniguns have diverged quite a bit since then.

OOh, hey, that reminds me.. I can finally use the minigun in UT2004 and have it shoot at its actual fire rate! Probably could do it with a couple instances of UT2004 running at once... Hmm... must do this...

I think the issue with the minigun is with the way the gun handles the "shotgun" blasts at high ROFs. It seems to look at how the player is moving the gun around, and places each individual shot according to how the gun was moved. It works well enough in IA, but it looks really weird online when you're flailing the gun around.

I took a look at how the XMV-850 operated online, and it had similar wonkiness, though it didn't seem to have the weird double-stream effect found in my guns, probably as a result of the high RecoilXFactor and RecoilYFactor values that made the gun uncontrollable with sustained fire.

So in the end, it might just be that shotgunning stream the code has it doing sometimes.

Say I wanted to create a 1200 round-per-minute version of the Fifty-9 that fired smaller ammunition and had a larger magazine, and wanted to give it a different color scheme to differentiate it from the original. What color should I make it?

I randomly set the Fifty-9's firerate to 0.05 on a whim, and I liked it so much I wanted to keep it, without making the Fifty-9 too overpowered.

I'm thinking something in the pink/red/orange range. I want something hot to complement the cool cyan/blue/purple of the Fifty-9.

EDIT: Or I could apply these changes to the XK2. The bottom line is that I want an extremely rapid-fire SMG that fires large numbers of smaller bullets.

By the way, if you want to make another change, I'd use the M925, skin it camo-esque, and turn it into a 12-shot 30mm autocannon (M900 explosion, SMAT projectile)

the 57 is wonderfully ridiculous- try the aimed version at close range. Like a blender. YOU HAVE to do more of the play-arounds, they're all great (i.e. AC-15, Fifty-7) and please boost the range on the HAMR, it drives me insane.

Please post any suggestions and bug reports in the Beta Forum. You could post them here, I guess, but a thread on the forum would be easier to track.

Known issues:

-Fifty-7/9 melee don't work even after you've re-folded the stock. You have to toss the gun.
-A73 and A48 heat code is even buggier online now.
-A73 and A48 projectiles leave a glow when shot into a wall at point blank.
