i am dummie !shy

but i love to mess around with sound.
i know how to extract soundfiles from a uax. file via unrealed.
i also know how to add soundfiles to a uax. file via unrealed.

that worked good for me until one day i found this:

*concreteimpact (the name is an example the little star on the beginning is important)

it looks like a another soundfile but it isnt.
if you klick it several times it plays different sounds and it is used for things like impactsounds or shelldropsounds. it seems to be a placeholder that plays randomsounds defined in it.

well now 2 questions:

1. whats the name of this file?

2.how do you create such files? is there a specialfunction in the editor for example?

i know the answer is anywhere out there and it could be found with enough searching but since you work with this filetype every day i kindly ask for your knowledge. !shy

thanx in advance

Hermann

I haven't bothered to mess with the sound in the code at all myself, but I'll bet that it's set to randomly use a set list of sounds somewhere in the code, rather than just a single file. I'll look into it...

hey herman..

this is easy..

when you click up ther in the menu to import a new sound, there is also a "New Sound Group" or something button.. click that, and name it.. you'll see it appear with a star next to it, and then, you right click on it and go properties.. then you can asign various sounds.. just look at our sounds like that :) hope this helps

btw, sounds above 22khz quality, and in stereo format, wont import ;)
