NEWER VERSION IS ON MY GAME SERVER. INCLUDES IMPROVEMENTS TO NEARLY EVERY WEAPON IN THE GAME, BARRING THE LIGHTNING GUN (getting to that). Updated quite often, so I do not release downloadable versions to the public (although you can always extract it from the cache, if you really want to play it offline). Dissatisfied with the reliability of the shotguns (The MRS138 in particular), I modified them and am now putting them up for release for others to try. What I didn't like with the old shotguns was the complete randomness of their spread patterns, making them unable to consistently put pellets where the gun was pointed. Additionally, their spread patterns were rectangular, which I thought was weird and wanted to change. These new shotguns have a more circular and consistent spread pattern, ensuring that you won't end up with big holes in the shot pattern that results in a complete miss even though the user's aim was true, saving him much potential heartbreak (or arm-break, or skull-break, depending on where the enemy's retaliatory shots land). The guns have also been (hopefully) balanced. I have not yet tested them against live humans, only mindless bots, hence the BETA status. There's also the possibility of bugs that may exist. Balance changes include: M763: -Much tighter spread pattern for better long-range shooting. -More accurate when crouched. M290: -Faster reloading time. -Slower firing rate, as a result of me slowing down its pump animation. -Most movement chaos of the 3 full-size shotguns. -Greater accuracy when crouched. -Primary fire works differently for the M290. Instead of one big blast, it's actually two smaller blasts (like a real shotgun) shifted horizontally left and right, to give it a wide spread. -Secondary fire is also shifted to the left or right, depending on which barrel fires. MRS138: -Slightly tighter spread than before. -Increased number of pellets from 10 to 12 (Mostly for convenience, as my modified system only works with pellet numbers that are multiples of 4. -Larger spread than a single shot of the M290. -Faster firing rate. -Highest damage per pellet of the shotguns. -Lowest movement chaos of the 3 full-sized shotguns. -Lower crouched fire bonus. MRT6: -Tighter spread than before. -Slower firing and reload rates. -Decreased clip size to 6 from 8. -Slightly lower damage per pellet (by 2 points or so) than the M763 and M290 -Primary and secondary fire both contain the same interesting quirks of its bigger brother, the M290. General changes: -Damage per pellet for each of the shotguns were reduced as a result of better spread patterns. -Weapon names have a (Bal) at the end to help differentiate them from the other guns, as there's no difference between them visually. -The spread patterns are not perfectly circular. There's still a good amount of randomness there. The shot patterns are also not evenly distributed, but more concentrated at the center of the shot patterns, like in a real shotgun. Installation: Simply unzip the files to your UT2004/System folder. As these are unofficial weapons, you'll have to check "Use all weapons" in your Ballistic settings. Or you can add them to your BallisticV2.ini if you know how. LINK REMOVED Questions? Comments? EDIT: Wait, people are still downloading this? Gah! This is old stuff people! Pre-2.1 stuff! Something like this actually already implemented in 2.1 (although without the double barrel action for the double-barreled guns) Link removed. |

Hey, this sounds pretty cool. Other than what you mentioned for the MRT6 and MRS138, how are the damages? The same? More importantly, do they still feel like the same guns? Are their effectivenesses essentially the same? Downloading and giving a try. (I really love the sounds of what you did for the double barrels and spread patterns! )
Checked out the patterns, pretty awesome. Still need to test them in combat though. |

It's rather impossible to gauge the effects of the more reliable spread on damage. I can say with all confidence however that the guns still "feel" the same way. |

They're pretty awesome, thats for sure. MRS138 feels more powerful, but that I don't mind, as it seemed a bit on the tame side for a 10 gauge. Question though, is the approximate damage for the 10-gauge somewhere between the one 12-gauge and two 12-gauge shots? On second thought, I'll just look it up myself. |

I do agree that the MRS138 seems a little much with its more reliable spread, additional pellets, and faster firing rate. I might have to reduce the damage of each pellet slightly to compensate. The original did seem to fall short in many people's eyes, though. The higher damage per pellet was pretty much canceled out by having 2 fewer pellets. |

I downloaded it and unzipped it to system. I checked use all, but couldn't find the upgraded versions in the "non-bw weapons" section. I presumed they worked automatically, but they weren't changed. Did I do something stupid? |

Check in the BW section.
They have (Bal) at the end of them. |

I just found it. The problem was with the UT2004 package open the game wouldn't refresh right, and didn't load the weapons into the folder. I got it. Just some stupid mac thing probably

Please note that the changes aren't particularly drastic in appearance. They're much easier to spot when you fire both the new and old shotguns and compare them to each other. |

I noticed cause I snuck up on somebody with a mrt6 after firing 3 times, expecting a 1-kill (I hurt him bad). Instead, I was reloading in his face... still got the kill though, he panicked and didn't hit me at all (plus, he had an assault pistol) Are there any dedicated servers that run your new shotguns? This happened when I ran a listen earlier today, and only 1 person came for 30 min (I had bots too, otherwise I would be bored to death). |

Not yet. We do have one server, but we've been having problems with it. The Webadmin lacks a certain tab that would let us install BW in it, and we've been unable to do anything to fix it. Once we can test it online and I get more feedback, I can modify this and release the full version to the public, and get on with modifying the pistols. The pistols are mostly done, now, especially the D49, which now actually shoots two bullets in the double-shot with two visible bullet holes. Fun! |

Just posting to announce that this mod of a mod is not dead. I'm am currently working on porting several of my tweaked weapons to v2.1 and expanding it to incorporate more of the weapons. I will soon upload the tweaked shotguns and BX5 Landmine to my server for testing, with others to follow (probably pistols). Shotguns are mostly balance changes, and are coming first since they've been the easiest to balance by far. The BX5 is pretty much a full-on nerf, I'm sad to say. It will have a smaller trigger radius for both modes, smaller blast radius for vehicle mode, smaller damage for spring mode, and you will only be able to carry 4 of them. I feel this will encourage more tactical mine-laying and make it a little harder to win by just dropping them all over the place, which can get problematic in Deathmatch games. |
