Holo and Red dot sights are both reflex sights, rang is virtually the same.

I know, but I think the HOLO gives you a better view at range compared to the MARS.

The MARS-2 scope is an an actual scope, not a red dot. It has a comparable zoom to the LS14 and M46.

Acid bullets and tracers. Acid tracers?

Acid pools... done by that one shotgun.
Exploding rounds. Done by that other shotgun.
AP bullets. Done by several big guns.
Lightning. Done by several.
Lasers? Got a few.
More than one bullet type? done.
Pointy end on gun? Done.



... what about a metal storm gun? We don't have one of those yet.

Oh. What about this? The gun is actually TWO guns. (!) The big gun is what you see, and can be taken off the smaller pistol-ish gun and has a proximity mine in it. that way you can totally fling your gun at people and explode them while shooting at them.

Or just scrap the smaller gun bit and leave the proximity mine. None of the guns i can think of have built in proximity mines.

Ah, ok, so I guess we only need the adjustable fire-rate then

The M46 has proxy mines as it's main alternate fire.

Damn, it seems like BW has every single assault rifle you can think of. We have to get really imaginative here:

• Rocket propelled bullets?
• A rifle that aims itself (Smart gun from AVP2)
• Poison tipped bullets
• Bullets that splash acid like how Braethius mentioned above. (I'm thinking TF2's piss rifle)
• Rapid firing mini railgun
• Underslung rocket launchers instead of underslung grenade launchers
• Rainbow bullets that leave a trail of RAINBOWS!!!

...I'm out of ideas.

Well we got poison darts, I think we have made or planned a Gauss machine gun/assault rifle, we have a laser rifle that has a miniature rocket launcher attached to it, the Bulldog is more or less using rocket propelled bullets, as well as its alt fire being about the equivalent of them, and I don't really think a gun that aims for itself makes for a good weapon in competitive play.

The "mini railgun" idea sounds pretty cool, although it seems conceptually similar to the Gauss rifles. Maybe we can use miniature/toned down versions of the standard railgun effects to give it some visual flair.

Now, here's something that just popped into my head, branching off the "self aiming rifle": anybody remember the "Ronin" from 007:Nightfire? It was a suitcase that you set down on the ground and it unfolded into a sentry turret. It could be controlled remotely or it would take care of itself, but it only had a limited field of view and it would overheat if it kept firing for too long. Destroying it would result in a rather large explosion. Maybe implement that functionality into one of the weapons? (not necessarily an assault rifle, either).

Underslung Flare launcher/Flamethrower/Acid sprayer?
Give it nano-machines that reconstruct the weapon, thus switching between the two available variants?
Heartbeat sensor?

Only other weapon type we're missing is a crossbow.

Also normal bow, plus cerebral bore. We don't have a spear launcher either. I dunno if it counts, but we don't have a break open rifle either. or a creature gun. You know, a thing you hold that poops bees or something.

Hey, what about something like a palm-gun? You know, where you just have your hand held forward and it shoots stuff. Think iron man plasma fists or bioshock plasmids.

Finding a good sound would be a challenge, but a Gauss assault rifle would be awesome.

For a melee/thrown weapon, why not some good ol' Coldsteel Tomahawks?

Aditionally, I don't recall BW having a disc gun like the ripper.

Guns in BW have all kind's of secondary fire/gadgets:
AM46 flash
M50 Grenade
M46 Proximity Grenade
GRS9 Laser beam
Skrith Acid gun splash bomb
XMK5 Dart
the new AK will have a Ballistic Knife
Countless guns with laser dot systems

Agreed, but actually I will manage to get my skrith crossbow in, but otherwise animating a crossbow is quite difficult, Also we still lack of certain type of energy / projectile weapons too

well, a tech crossbow doesn't need to be archaic. They CAN be clip fed, y'know. It would be extremely lazy and probably look bad but there's plenty of rifles and such that would work as a base, and simply have it modified. The R9 comes to mind.

Certain type? what? I can't think of anything missing. Other than maybe a livestock launcher.

as to "Archaic" crossbows, there was a clip fed crossbow made in japan (or atleast there are stories of them from "ye olden times") called a chokono(or something sounding like that) i never really looked into it much, so i am not sure if it is real or myth

but to the coders behind this weapon pack, how hard would it be to make the "camo"s a togglable option?

Weapon idea: 10 shot Clip-Fed semi-automatic crossbow that shoots bolts that can nail corpses on walls (a-la Half-Life 2)

As to the animations for a x-bow, ChaosUT's X-bow was pretty well done, if any of them are still active anywhere you could ask them for advice/help if ya are really considering the x-bows for BW

"Dark Souls" has a Crossbow that can load/shoot 3 bolts at once, and can use amunition infused with lightning ("Lightning-Bolts", get it ? )

it just occurred to me there's no high caliber automatic gun that fires in the 90-100 RPM range.

Picture in your mind, if you're feeling so inclined. A gun that is held similar to the XMB, but with a single barrel. And it fires big bullets, automatically, but it is very slow. And goes boom boom boom. (lemme here you say waaayooo!)

Were kind of getting into completely separate weapons idea's, originally we were just mentioning rifle ideas. (As far as crossbows go though, yes please make it semi-auto and clip fed like the one in Half-Life. We've had semi-auto crossbows since the 18th century, I'm sure the future can pull one off)

But I guess we really do have quite literally everything in terms of basic rifles. Anything more would need to be complex stuff like Smart guns and Cornershots.

But I laughed at the idea of LSD tipped bullets or darts. Instead of a poison dart that slowly causes damage, I'm thinking of a drug dart that stones your opponent and causes them to lose their aim and swaps their key controls.

Team Fortress Classic had a dart gun that did exactly that. Similarly it had a gas grenade that causes your opponents to hallucinate gunfire. Do we have any debilitating spell-like weapons that do this?

Half life's crossbow wasn't semi automatic, it needed to be cocked after each shot. and I can tell that about any game's crossbow actually does cock after shot.

Seriously thinking... I feel there should be more single-shot grenade launchers. Perhaps with varying ammo as well.
I mean, we have normal(HE?) grenades and flares. But there's plenty of other types just left untapped....

wondering what is the status on the Marathon style Energy pistol that was in the prototypes package, as in is it still in the works or did it get "cut"?

The Mars-2 "Hunter" is an exact copy of the F2000 with a holographic sight slapped on.

However, more than a few guns from Halo were based off the F2000 in one way or another.

Anyways, is meat vision = X-ray vision? Because if so, that would be awesome.
