Post subject:  BW No-Packs mutator.

Simply put, this little mutie removes the BW ammo packs (as used by the BW Arena and Loadout mutators), so the only way you can get more ammo is to scavenge the dropped weapons from the dead.
It adds a bit more challenge, and forces you to use more guns (basically anything you can get your hands on that still has ammo), and of course, melee weapons can become more of an asset!

I have only tested it offline, but it should also work online.

Yeah, you can never have too many mutators, lets hope some more coders will join the fun aswell ;)

Im working on one more actually, but i've hit a bit of a snag with it (im not that experianced at this), but i hope i can share it with you guys within the next few days.

I need to learn a bit of scripting, and the best way is to practice, anyone need help? I got a little expierence with making own stuff.

Most of my stuff is already existing things, adapted, mixed and pulled apart. Most work fine.
-BomberPlane (existing bomber plane, but with better controls, weaponry and lots better effects.)
-Armorshard (a simple mix of the HealthVail and 50Armorpickup.)
-Loads of my own weapons (existing weapons with altered attacks and other properties, such as a tractorbeam to push and pull stuff (works great against vehicles))

And thats about everything I've managed... oh yeah, I made a scorpion black, gave it rockets and made it somewhat faster, but thats not much.


Problem is, I have none of these in mutator form, and I have no idea how to do so.
I attempted to keep the corpses around for longer, 30 seconds, a mutator, but that just didnt do a thing.

Aye, we all started there, tweaking existing code, the problem is allways taking the next step and figuring out how to make it a standalone mutator.

My advice to you is start small, find another mutator out there, one that is really simple, that just replaces one object with another, nothing fancy like menu's or anything, and have a look at how he did it, and then make your own that does the same thing, replacing a normal UT2004 weapon with one of your own guns for instance.
At first you'll find yourself just copy/pasting code around, hoping that it somehow works, but the more you work with it, you slowly start to figure out why it works, and how, its a matter of learning by doing, really.

Just keep at it, im a hopeless newbie at this too, you just gotta keep trying till something works ;)

Bumping a year old thread is largely unappreciated, but since its a good question raised, where is the mutator? I'm a bit surprised its not on the ModDB page...

Because it wasn't, don't forget that I don't have the latest OCAdam pack, and I don't have the junkwars mods and such, so good question but most of my bumps were also without any response.
It seems since the merge of the forums most things were lost :(

I'm afraid its actually a victim of FileFront's change of management. Worse part is that I haven't heard from Grobut in a while. I'll have to try and contact him in a bit. Maybe we can get this back.

I didn't mean anything by it, Blade Sword, I just thought I seen it on ModDB before.

Yeah filefront deleted a lot of user made content since they changed management :(
