Post subject:  Stand-alone Sniper rifle

Hey all, I am the leader of a UT2k4 Sniper clan and am trying to customize a rifle. The absolute best rifle I have found is the BW Sniper rifle.

Question: Is the a way to compile the files (after some small edits) to create a package I can upload without installing the entire BW package? If this is possible, will some one please give me a file list of what is necessary?

I really like the BW set and play on my system a lot, I just don't want to force all my clan members and guests to d/l the entire package just to use the sniper rifle. I have downloaded the core and v21 files and have taken a look at some of them.

Hello, and welcome to Runestorm!

If you intend on using a BW weapon as a base, you MUST have the BCoreV21 Package (Latest version of the Core files), as it has all the code necessary to run the mod. Also the mutator that is provided with the actual .zip or .umod file (BallisticV21) allows you alot of options, such as Ballistic Loadout, which allows you the option of selecting weapons at game start (It should work with standard Unreal Weapons).

If you really wanted, you could include the core files in with the mutator...

If you are wanting to just have the R78, then what you need to do is keep most (probably better to keep all) of it, and then just only have a package to compile for the R78 from BallisticV21's files. I can help do this this weekend once I get UDE working again.

Thank you for the advice and offer of help, really appreciated. I am just not sure what file list goes with each weapon.

Yes, I just want the R78 for now. Maybe later I can get enough members interested in BW to install the full mod to run when we have a fun night of general mayhem and destruction.
If a package can be created (even if I need to keep the major files on the server) that doesn't involve downloading everything for members and guests that will be great. Even if the rifle package is a bit larger than the normal rifles, so be it. Worth it IMO, for such an outstanding bit of workmanship.

Just checking to see if I can get the file list for the sniper rifle. I've looked through core file to try and locate all the other files it references and wanted a BW expert to let me know what I need.

You'll probably have an easier time just getting the entire BCoreV21 set on the server. Then you'll need any file saying R78 in the title. Also, you'll need the DT_R78 stuff. Next, all the IPs and IMs (I think). You'll have to find both the AP_R78Clip and the Ammo_42HV (orwhatever the R78 uses stock) to get the ammo right. I think that might be all of the R78 stuff.... I forget.

Excellent, I had planned on uploading all the BW core to the server, just didn't want all players to have to d/l it.
I will give this a shot and post when it works or I need more help.

I tried adding the Emitter class from the engine\classes and got the following error:
Parsing BallisticEmitter
C:\UT2004\R78\Classes\BallisticEmitter.uc(18) : Error, R78.BallisticEmitter's superclass must be Engine.Emitter, not R78.Emitter
Compile aborted due to errors.

Question: Any ideas about the general protection fault?
I tried to do this without changing the weapon name to make it simpler. Once it works then I can add the custom name.
When you get the chance, please look into that.
