Hiya all! Long time ago I announced here that I was making a mod for Cortex Command based on Ballistic Weapon you guys at Runestorm created. I loved BW so damn much that I decided to make a very large mod featuring the weapons, gore and general awesome of ballistic weapons. And now its done, I present you: [size=20px]Ballistic Weapons: Mercenaries![/size]
![]() Ballistic Weapons: Mercenaries! mod is a partly a tribute to Runestorm's Ballistic Weapons mod for Unreal Tournament and aims to bring the amazing BW content into a 2d enviroment. Its a gigantic pack of content and will add a tournament style gamemodes (*Not done yet, I need a Lua coders help for this one.) to the indie game "Cortex Command". This mod requires Cortex Command Build 23 to run. While I was making it, the creator of the game contacted me and asked if I could do official content for the game. At that point I had all, but the heavy weapons completed and 90% of all the sprites ready and sounds fixed up. When I became a dev, I put this aside and started working on the game itself rather than modding it like I did so far and the project just had to wait. But I must say it was worth it. The maker implemented some new features and added Lua scripting that pretty much opened new windows for possibilities that were not possible before and after I had done tons of work for the main game, I decided to revive this mod. And after some very hard work and lots of fun, its done. Now all its missing is a script so we can have deathmatch, capture the flag and such other gamemodes to make it play like unreal tournament, except in 2D and fully destructable terrain and pixel physics and incredible acrobatic clumsyness of characters. |

I saw some sprites of this a little while ago, I thought I would try Cortex Command... Mod looks good, shame about the game it is based on

Nice job, the guns look true to the actual ones. Does the M75 shoot the big blue corkscrew? I'll check this out.

I just tried Cortex command out today, i was surprised to see it was mac compatible
Anyways, the game is brilliant and this mod looks like it will be too. I will buy this game soon and hope that when the BW mod is released that it will work correctly on me mac :] |

I will buy this game soon and hope that when the BW mod is released that it will work correctly on me mac :] The mod is released already and according to my mac betatester (that lazy guy : p) he said it worked fine for him. If the mod crashes or fails to load for you, let me know and tell me what happened and what you did. As for the tournament script thing, that will be sort of an extension to the mod that will come much later. I havent announced the release of this on Moddb yet, mainly because I want to try making a video of the gameplay and a trailer of some sort. |

Not entirely sure how macs work but I assume its similar to PCs in a way. Installing mods is really simple: 1. Download the file and extract it with winzip or similar. 2. Place the folder "BW.rte" in the same place where the game is. You should notice there are already some other folders with the .rte extension. Shortly: Extract and put in game directory. Thats it. The game will load any folder automaticly that has the .rte extension on it. |

It is a confusing game... only problem I had with it was the fact that shields could cut through concrete if stepped on... Raziel P.S damn! still have not downloaded and played it yet (with the mod) |

Its not confusing if you take a few min to understand it. Build your base in skirmish mode, lay out units, arm them, protect base, kill enemy. |

You can buy whatever you want as long as you have the cash available, its just a matter of choice i suppose. I always have my base built and characters on the screen before the match officially starts. |

I'm seriously looking forward to the additional Deathmatch patch for this. Hopefully it has unlimited time (since 6 minutes worth of gameplay is just too short). |

uh... you have to buy it to get longer gameplay out of storymode... Raziel P.S but still, deathmatch will be a good addition to the game... Great job so far Reactor! |

I really wish they had a head-to-head mode for Cortex Command. If the AI had a brain chamber it needed to protect the game would be awesome. I just don't really like the fact that AI get to waste all their resources on killing you while you shell out money to buy units that mostly will die in a flash. |

Cool man.. You sure are a loyal fan eh.. It certanly looks like it's got a BW style to it.. Not sure i would go for 2D, but if i did, this would be the first thing i would try!!... |
