- Ballistic Weapons Extreme -






Balancing reset to BW 2.5 Gold for classic, unforgiving BW combat.
Contains all content from all the various CF Mutators, also the unreleased ones. Continuously updated with new features, gameplay enhancements and weapons. Sgt. Kelly's bonus pack and Hr.Doctors pack will be migrated and further developed with BWX.



Installation



Prerequisites

  • Clean your UT2004 installation. No Crap.
  • Delete ALL CF Mutators and the Unofficial Ballistic Fix files. Both are obsoolete and should not be used ANYMORE.
  • Disable all currently used mutators, to ensure the correct functioning of BWX. Once BWX is working as intended, you can enable them again and see if it works.
  • Only ONE BW FORK(!) can be used at a time. Uninstall all other forks including BWE

Installation Process

Use the provided installer to install BWX. It installs all necessary files and let you make additional choices. The BWX installer ships with BW 2.5 Gold. If you have a patched and otherwise untouched UT2004 installation around, use that one ! Its clean and perfect for the sake of getting BWX to work.
In case the installer couldn't locate your UT2004.ini and you want to host games, edit your UT2004.ini as follows and add the following ServerPackages:

  • ServerPackages=BCoreExtreme
  • ServerPackages=BallisticExtreme
Installer - Host Support

The installer let you choose between BWX and BW2.5 host support for the installation.
When using BW2.5 host support only, you will not be able to host a BWX game but you can still play it online on BWX servers, except that you can not map the new keys in the input menu of UT2004 and as such, cannot use them. When using BWX host support, you can not host BW 2.5 games anymore but still play them online on other servers as usual. Though, there shouldn't be a need for hosting BW 2.5 anymore.

- For the bullettime combo 150 and for the other combos 100. if you enable combo stop (default on) then only the half of each. So 75 and 50.

First: Wow, those million options are insane!

Second: Three things after a little playing:

1. Will the bonus pack weapons come in a later release as I don't see them ingame.

2. In BWX Loadout gamemode the weapons cock on first bringup even though I have checked the option to disable that.

3. Is there an option to disable the ingame achievement system/hud icons (they're obscuring the screen too much for my taste)?

They aren't in yet. We working on the merge at the moment. We released BWX yet already, because its as such playable and there is no need for you gus to wait any longer. We also take the chance to overhaul some of the guns :geek:

You will get an option for that with the next update. Temporary, you can minimize the hud elements with +/- buttons.

I have a problem with HUD. In play is not displayed and the setting is disabled when I try to change it so it does not affect nor saved. I can set it only when I am out of the game

Hello. BWX does not have any HUD related settings yet (15.06.2014). What settings do you mean exactly ?

If the normal UT2004 Hud is not working, then thats not related to BWX.
Thats something BWX never touched.

Custom Hud elements, like the new sprint and combo indicators or the achievements, are drawn differently on the HUD - directly via the pawn class.

I don´t see any weapon, health bar, armor or other stats in HUD. I have clear installation of UT2k4 in version 3369 and then i used instalator BWXinstal. Installation setup is complet without any failure. When i run game only normal BW setups is visible and other things works fine. But there are no features on BWX like more loadout menu or players settings.

When I test run instalator twice I finally have a options BWX, but then i have no visible HUD in game. In HUD settings is only player name allowed, other things are disabled and scroll bar is set on zero. I change it but it´s not save.
I downloaded my installator 10.6. <- maybe the problem is here?

About the player settings. BWX does not affect the player settings ???
BWX is just a mutator collection and the only stock menus that are "extended" are the input menus - via 2k4s own interface that extra had been made for this purpose.

Also, what scrollbars do you refer to ? The description scrollbar ?

The Installer is 319 MB big. When i upload it, it could happen that you guys get a file that isnt 319 mb big. If thats the case, im updating/uploading it, give it 5 minutes, and then try it again :oops:

I found the problem and soluted it, a new installer version is upped just now.
To solute your problem, do the following:
Main Menu -> Join Game -> Favorites
Then go back. All fine now.

Alternatively, delete your UT2004.ini and install again.

Also, register total comamnder, its totally worth its money :P

I tried both solutions but it doesn´t work. In normal game works everything fine, but in BW game HUD is still not visible.
Maybe is something wrong with my UT copies or deep in system. It´s sad when I lost original CD-key. Now I can play only instant action but cannot multiplayer :-[

I´ll wait untill I get new CD-key and maybe that will work - otherwise I don´t know :-[

Can you post me the lines between
"bDemoJogKeys=" and "[XGame.xDeathMatch]" in your UT2004.ini ?




And about the CD Key - just get a random one from the internet and add the following to a textfile and save. Then rename the textfile to UT2004.reg and double click it.

Having the same issues as the first time, no HUD, No Weapon.

I deleted the UT2004 Ini, installed the package, and still have the same problem.

The .ini looks clean and it doesnt look like it was modified by the installer either - but thats ok. BWX should work just fine. Unfortunately, im absolutely out of ideas too ???

It is the problem. I get the handle on the HUD to access various properties of the HUD itself in order to expand the HUD without subclassing or replacing it in any way. And i do that in the DrawHud function of the pawn. If that function returns abnormal due to an error because things arent there that should be there, the DrawHud chain is broken and everything related to that breaks.

If the HudFix ♥♥♥♥♥ up the original UT2004 HUD internally/codewise, then there is only less i could do about that. The only chance is, i take a look at what HudFix does, do it better myself and implement it native into BWX. - The do it yourself way :geek:

Ah, I'm not that code savvy. So it sounds like the best is to wipe away everything and Start UT2004 Fresh.

I has some suggestions for BWX, about G5, M50 rockets-grenades and M763 Shotgun:
1. make option in preferences - fast G5 and M50 grenades with Azarael's Ballistic Fix speed parameters, I really don't like that slow speed in original BW, and with bigger speed they can more effective used in Onslaught against fast vehicles or Invasion with custom powerfull monsters.

2. Make option that turn M763 into automatic shotgun, BW has two "conventional" shotguns with pumping, and BW don't has any semi or just automatic shotgun, I already created M763 with three modes - original pump, semi and automatic that has bigger spread.

Just tested it again with a fresh new, clean Installation (UT V.3369, CBp 1+2)
from my original UT2k4 Game disc. Than installed BWX with the newest patch.
Directly connected to the CF-Game Server, IT ALL WORKS just FINE.

So my only conclusion is, tht some of you dont have a fully clean and original vanilla Installation. :think:

To play the game in 1920x1080 change these lines in your UT2004.ini:

FullscreenViewportX=1920
FullscreenViewportY=1080

Same here, everything works fine for me as well (new install of UT2004)

Once we isolated the problem and found its root cause, it definitely can be fixed ;) :ugeek:

But most likely not today anymore (UTC +2)
I must know more about this HudFix stuff and why you guys have this error in your logs.
Why it appears on a fresh install ? Do you have some special UT2004 version ? An overhauled one from GoG.com or some pirated one that contains already stuff ?

I have an original copy, since 2004. I haven't gotten the chance to clean UT2004 yet (family stuff currently is going on), so I'll get back to you on that one.
