As the thread title suggests, this is my first mapping attampt.

This is going to be a SP/Coop map custom tailored to BW2.0.

I'm designing it with Serious Sam, Unreal, and probably several other classic FPS's in mind. 8)

So, whatcha'll thunk it?

Oh yeah, and SB, do you mind if I use that Bunker Static Mesh of your guys' in this? If not I'll just make my own, no problem there, but yours is already made. ;)

Oh yeah, clicking here will either throw you into the deep, dark pits of the abyss or bring you to another thread where you might find different info on this map, can't really remember...

Looks cool for first map :D
I've got some nice ideas for it... The ground texture is rocky, so it doesn't really look desert like.
Look into the package: 'Barrenterrain', there's lots of sand and stuff there.

Maybe adding some palm trees looks cool too :D
Further it looks nice :D Good design for gameplay.

I think you should stay with the rock n' stone-theme instead of sand, it looks cooler in my opinion. And it'll look much better as a terrain too. 8)

Thanks! I'm thinking of just sticking with a rocky theme as Bjossi suggested. Its already looking pretty damn cool, and then I'm going to maybe go into a cave system later if I can figure out monster spawning.

Also, if anyone out there knows terrain, please help. I looked at UnrealWiki and had no luck, I am currently looking elsewhere.

Okay, very nice for a first map attempt. You already know the terrain now since you mailed me about it. I like this so far, very nice for something lke BMR. Very large looking, but a little tall for my tastes, but I like those outdoors maps! A download would be pretty nice. I'd like to see the level myself in the editor. Oh, and if you need a sunlight actor, tell me and I'll help. It's pretty hard at first.

I'm now helping Xavious out with the map (or royally screwing it up) by adding in pathnodes, playerstarts, sunlight actors instead of skybox lighting (itself). So far, it looks okay with the lighting, but I'm playing around with the brightness and letting X know about the map, and doing trnasfers to show the changes. Me and X agree that we'd love a map with very dim sky, basicly like an early sunrise. So the map will be mostly night time looking with a few light poles around the terrain that light up a few spots decently.

Of course it's his choice, but I like that theme the best based on how his map would look with it. 8)

That looks a lot brighter than I intended, but I can work with it.

I'm dimming the sun a bit right now and redoing my own pathing on it. The zombies work pretty fine, but the idea of the 10 second instantly entering the level makes it hard to get to the base in time and stock up. Oh well, works better than having 5 seconds like in BMR...

Actually, AIMs best for me, since MSN crashes on my compy everytime and can't even connect to the servers and stuff. And dang that stupid censor on saying zom.bies!

Alright, I've made some major improvements to my skybox, so it looks pretty cool now. I don't want to post any more screenshots until I get the terrain working though. Still having trouble getting the terrain created...

*UPDATE!*

I figured out the monster spawning!!! !amazed

Now I can get in some good, downloadable, playable mapping. 8)

Woo hoo! I finally got around to getting the ladders installed! The one that leads up to the base needs a bit of work yet, though it is functional.

If you want something for monsters and stuff, look up to the OSM gametype. The maker of that gametype made many new navigationpoints and monsters.

I am currently getting some help from several people (lloks like I'm gonna have a long Special thanks list in my readme :D ) so hopefully I can get some terrain layed out soon and therefore making it look 10 times better. :)

Heh, it should look good now that you know how to make terrain properly that works. If anyone needs to have a mini-tutorial on Terrain, PM me and I'll give you my TerrainTutorial.txt file.

Yes. OSMT is the toolset, OSM is the gametype that was specifically designed for OSMT. If you need more information, you should go here.

Additionally you may also contact the author of OSMT, SuperApe regarding any additional questions about OSMT or OSM that you may have.
