I'm making a map for AlienSwarm, a tactical gameplay mod for UT2004 visioning the game from above. Normally, AlienSwarm has high-tech installations or space ships which the game plays in. I've decided to make a infested city, destroyed and inhabited by the Swarm. You're dropped with a dropship on an alone-standing building which, scanners say, is easy to secure and create a base of operations. Here's 4 screenshots from what I've made so far (offices, toilet, outside). While walking around, you hear people screaming in the cities, so there might be survivors left fighting against the alien hordes. You'll also find lots of aliens you gotta fight.

Ah yeah, I remember trying this. I didn't like the controls very much. Movement controls independent of your aim just didn't work out for me. If the controls were more similar to UT where you move depending on the direction you're pointed, I probably would have enjoyed it more. |

Nope, AlienSwarm is really a new game, no mutators. BUGBUGBUG, and no its not an alien! The brushes dissapear half, but only if looked upon in the right angle.
How to fix that? |

That looks pretty awesome Bulska! I never much played the game but I think I might just pick it up again now.
Assuming I can find time between Dues Ex, System Shock 2, and Postal 2.

i dont know where the map help thread was, so i think i'll ask my question here. To make doors is there a pre-made static mesh pack already or is there a texture for doors that i can use in UT2004? |

Futuristic, but i want them to still be able to look outside... I'll make a glass door with the ShipTech thing for now. |

Can you remake this level real quick for OSM Adventure? I'd love to try playing through this using only my own wits (and BulletTime!!), plus a little BW Loadout action... |

I tried using several OSM actors in it, they work like normal! Only do remember Alien Swarm is a different game, matinee doesnt work ingame. I dont know too much about alienswarm mapping, Im just trying it out. I know how to make doors. (any kind, they just special movers) How to make alien spawners with triggering them on-off. Objectives... Further more, I use some actors from Alien swarm which are very easy to use, just look at other maps. Now, if you want staticmeshes and stuff from Alienswarm, go to the Alienswarm folder under programfiles/ut2004/alienswarm. There will be staticmesh packages, sounds and some other stuff. Load them all so you can browse trough them easily. To make a door, you need to get the special Door Mover made for AlienSwarm(or something like that, not sure) You cannot place it from the Actor list, you need to copy it from other maps... thats how far I am. I tried picking them out of the actor list, but I found them non-placeable. But they ARE in other maps. So copy a door, with other stuff... And look here: http://www.blackcatgames.com/swarm/mapping/Doors.htm

I've always wanted to drop a few bodies into my maps. And OC, where can I get this "OSM" Adventure thing? I have SPFrame and AlienSwarm and I'm eager to try this OSM thing out. |

Download almost any OSM map and they should come with the OSM thing. I suggest downloading OSM-Guide, as it was designed to help mappers map an OSM level. |

BUGBUGBUG, and no its not an alien! The brushes dissapear half, but only if looked upon in the right angle. How to fix that? Well that looks like one of those FAMOUS!! bsp bugs that you dont know how to fix and dont know what causes it.... But i think this may help... i allways just selected the bsp brush duplicated it, deleted the old one, and put the duplicate in it's place...then compiled (of course).....
If you have problems as such you could discuse it in my help thread which is still there waiting for questions...I only left it becease there where no more questions but it's still alive... Oh ye and Nice!! map i never seen MOD but map looks cool your getting better and better Bulska!!... |
