For a little time now, I've been working on a make-over of DM-DC-Beach to turn it to a cool assault. So far it looks great and it plays fun too... only the bots are really lame.

If anyone wants to check up how far the map is, here's a link of the current progress. Mostly anything is done, except from fine-tuning bits and pieces.
I strongly recommend downloading the original DM-DC-Beach aswell, because I'm too lazy to include its static meshes in this zip file. Just download the RS map pack.

I'd like to try it, but I'm busy porting my weapon tweaks to 2.1. It looks great though. I might have to make Assault votable on my server.

Judging by screenies alone, it might be a good idea to increase the distance between the islands. They look to be within sniping range of each other.

THat looks awesome! Man... I need to download this soon.... maybe after I finish playing LA Rush for the day.

EDIT: This really sucks.... the only way in is to jump up the blocks... none of the walls are destroyable it seems! On top of that.... I never could get to the objective with how my teammates are useless and I get killed too quickly by the enemy team!

There's an side objective, activate that and then the gates go open.

And the bots are just stupid, do remember that it isn't finished yet, and I still have to edit the bot pathing...
Perhaps I should make the gates destructable instead of triggered...

The islands are in sniping range, and the side island is where you can climb up and snipe against the defending team. Bots are too stupid to climb up and snipe around, because they are programmed to hop around all around the place.

Ah well... updates soon enuff.

It just seems that Railguns would make things impossible for the attacking team. Two railgunners could take out all of the boats before they could ever reach the beach, and if the attackers counter with railguns of their own, railgun usage would escalate until nobody is left to get the objectives. An all-railgun defense would be unstoppable.

I did that objective very first thing, no doors opened. THAT is what makes me a little angry.

The gates should open, they do with me...

You did get to activate the button did you? I got to know where the problem lies, with the gates, or the button.

Swimming would be even worse, actually. Fish in a barrel. Sitting duck.

And disabling the Railgun just isn't going to work in a server. It would maybe work if I use Arena presets, but not with Loadout. Loadout settings are the same for each gametype, and there is no preset system to change them out at will (which would be really, really great actually).

EDIT: Any possibility of a night version?

I'm damned sure I hit the button, it went from green to red. And to make sure, I even hit the button several times over.

I had a thought about the boat problem, way not model something like this…

And set it in the map as a mover?

Movers sometimes cause clipping errors. Also, the spawn points would all have to be attached to said mover for the players to not spawn in the ocean.

What I would do is this:

1) Make a separate section of map that consists of water and a skybox.
2) Put a boat with high walls in the water that the players can look out of but not jump out of.
3) Pan the water texture so that it looks like the boat is moving.
4) After a set period of time, create some explosions and then teleport the players to the beach with another destroyed boat model to look like it was hit by weapons fire.

If the attackers and defenders were released in timed increments, then camping would not be possible.

Could anyone post a link to download the watercraft? I'd do it myself but I have to go real soon and I'll be away for a while.
