Hey Guys

My first Map is now completed but if you have any suggestions for imporovement please say.

The map is set in an old abandoned warehouse that is now overgrown and crumbling. I wouldn't reccomend more than 6 players.

Yeah it isn't really an inca kind of level. Though i can see why the shots might give that impression.

I've added some heightfog now and that improves the atmosphere alot !lol

by the way... do you know how how to add rain? I want to make it so it rains through the gap in the ceiling.

I always look into the original maps to see how they've done it, works most of the time.

I havent tried mapping for UT3 yet... cant you just open the map files like in UT2004?
If not, it would be pretty stupid.

and about your map, I think adding borders would look nicely, to blend the ceiling to wall more nicely, and floor to wall. Putting little material edges to things really can turn the looks around.

Might I suggest adding variances to your colour scheme right there? By the looks of it, the majority of the map is very yellowish, and while it looks good for a bit, if placed everywhere it makes the map look very bland. Also, light doesn't just appear out of no where, which is what it seems to be doing in most cases in your map. You need some more light sources (meshes) to actually give the player a reason to believe that this light "should" be here, and it isn't just emanating from some unknown source.

On a lighter note it looks pretty good, especially for a first map, however it is kinda tough to make crappy looking maps in UT3. :p

And for rain, in the default maps they use plane shaped meshes with an animated rain material on them, and then place them in a grid like fashion. So if you looked down on them from a top view, it would like #. CTF-Coret uses these meshes.

And by borders I think he means trims. :)

Anyways, good luck on your maps!

Don't worry about light sources i have done that already and made the sky lighter. There is also a moderately thick height fog now. Ill send in some more pics of it.

Oh yeah i have also started on borders and the such.

by the way I wont be adding rain in this map because it doesn't need it and is hard to get the effect right.

Looks real nice and all but.... NOOOOOOOO!!!!! It's UT3. Which my computer would NEVER run. And I'm stuck with 2k4. And I'm now just purposely making fragmented sentences. Ya understand?

What do you mean haze?

I think he means fogginess.A little more dreary dark weather would add to the theme I think.
Perhaps darker gray clouds.
