I got really bored. Plus i figured i could play with the photo editor in photobucket and see what its all about.

Image
Here are the rifles, the top is a m24/47 that used to be a royal belgian m24 before the yugoslavs got theirs hands on it and reworked it. The bottom is a k98 that fought on the eastern front against the russians, built in chzeckoslovakia for the germans, it was captured by the russians and reworked in case they needed to use them. The only change was reblue, stock repairs, new serial numbers ETC.

Image
This picture shows a few of the differences between the two rifles. Though i dentical in many ways they are as different as the countries that used them. The Yugoslavian mauser has a solid Walnut stock, a straight bolt handle that is also polished to a smooth in the white metal, the hand gaurd goes past the sight base and over laps the receiver a small bit. The Yugo bolt is about a qaurter of an inch shorter so then the k98 action making bolt swaps between the two rifles impossible. The k98 is in a laminate stock, which is wood that was cut into sheets then glued together to make denser stronger stocks that withstood attacks from moisture and severe climates, the bolt handle is bent nearly straight down, so far infact a recess had to be cut into the stock to allow easier access to manipulate the bolt, the bolt is also a very dark matte blue. the handgaurd stops directly forward of the rear sight base. The sights are slighly more intricate then the m24/47s as well.

Image
This is a pic of the receiver ring on the k98, typically a k98 wears the year it was built, the factory it was built at, marks of the factory that built it, the serial numbers, random Nazi proof makrs etc on the receiver. This one was built in 1942 in Chzeckslovakia (i can look for the factory later if anyone is interested)

Image
This picture shows the m24/47 receiver ring, these typically wear only a couple things on them when compared to the k98. The crest shown here is a Yugoslavian anti nazi crest (Something along them lines.) Then on the left side it would say the model with would be M24/47 and on the right i would have the serial number.. Then back more on the left side it has the Yugoslav factory that built it and its factory code which is the same for all Yugoslav mausers as there was only one factory making them at the time.

Image
Then for the final pic is a shot of the left side of the k98 where the serial number and the serial number prefix would be placed, obviously ive blurred out the serial number so no one could see it. Here you can see a Nazi eagle holding a swastica, which is quite a nice find on a russian captured rifle, many time russian/ukrainian workers working on these weapons still held quite bitter views about the nazi party and defaced these marks when they could, sometimes only the little swastika was hit with a small punch, but then some examples show the entire eagle punched out. So finding a rifle that escaped this treatment is a nice find indeed, not rare, but not extremely common. a little more to the right of the serial numbers location there would be the model of the weapon stamped on the receiver Mod.98.

Anyway hope you all found this interesting, took me quite a bit of time as I was playing with photobucket. Just goes to show that even though they look similar they are both very different and were ment to serve different nations and purposes.

I swear the K98 was the most beautiful rifle to come out of the Second World War. The Moison nagant 24 comes in a close second.

whats the Mosin nagant 24? They didnt have a model 24.

The k98 is a handsome rifle. pleasure to shoot as well.

Image
here is mosin nagant m44 made in 1946 by the izhesvk arsenal.

Image
here is japanese type 99

Image
here is the m24/47 from earlier

Image
And here is a british maltby lee enfield no4 mk1

Hope this helps blade.

I will say CoD WaW was good but then I saw the mosin nagant they made... terrible, ruined that part of the game for me.the bolt handles were bent, the bolt was too big, the gun was too short and bulky. They made the type99 perfect... its one of the hardest rifles to find dating to back then but a mosin nagant where you can get them for 80 bucks a pop they destroyed it... was NOT impressed.
