Sup RuneStorm. It's been awhile. Anyways I finally got myself a true gamer computer of sorts that is a VERY big step up from the small Acer I was using to mostly play UT2k4 and work on mods for it I showed everybody a few months ago. And when I mean a big step up I mean a BIG step up. Behold! ![]() (Excuse the crappy resolution on the picture. My camcorder was the closest thing to take a picture with) This is my proper gamer system I got today with what was left with a ex-trust fund I had in a bank account I did not need anymore. The story for this system is when I went to the computer chop shop next door to my house and asked how much it would cost to build one it turned out the sales rep there had a gamer system the shop already built but the person who ordered it to be built bailed out on paying for it and he was offering it to me for just over $800 without tax aded and he throwed in a D-Link wireless USB dongle for free since I told him I can't run wiring through my place. Anyways now comes the juicy part of this that everybody been waiting for what is in this system. Well it has... System Name: Tumbler Case: Some Antec don't know the real model name CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 2.66GHz RAM: 4 GB Video Card: GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+ Hard Drive: SSD (System Drive): 80 GB HDD (Data Drive): 1 TB Keyboard: Logitech G510 (It can change color) Mouse: Razer Lachesis 5500dpi (this can also change it's colors too) Screen: A quite old LG 18' that I had from my very first computer still works I'm very happy with this cheap system. I can play a hell of a lot more games like Duke Nukem Forever on high and even very infamous demanding games like Crysis & Crysis 2 quite well if the Can YOU Run It site is to be believed so I'm quite happy I got a proper gaming system that can last me a few years before I got to do massive upgrades all around (the video card is 2 years old alone). I can't wait to start playing UT2k4 in full HD same with UT3 and others with all the settings cranked up to Max with all of my mods again and this time I will not bog down my install with soundpacks everywhere like how I did on my Prometheus system (the small Acer). Tumbler will be used for just gaming and Prometheus is now officially been regaled to being a general use system/UT2k4 Mod Dev box (it still has my audio editing software on it and it can still play UT2k4 quite well so it will be just used for soundpack mod testing). [Edit] Since I forgot to put in what OS this system runs it runs Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 and it has a full year of Norton included as well. |

You have the same case and keyboard I have. Make use of the Gbuttons. They're *extremely* useful. Edit: you also have the same external HD I have. |

I'm jealous. I'd love to get a gaming PC. So far, CYRI hasn't lied to me yet... |

Hmm... I think you may need a bit more power to play games like Crysis and Battlefield on high. I built a computer too, recently. Here's an awesome site that you can load up with parts to calculate the cost of a potential build. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/i8eR |

I just got to find time to program them in again. And I have two external hard drives. The one in the picture is my older 500 GB one that just holds my videos and a GOG install of UT2k4 so I can do a fast reset of the game back to a vanilla version if needed. My newer one is a 2 TB Hitachi that holds all of my music & picture data from the older drive.Sgt. Kelly wrote: Hmm... (I'll load it up with the specs I used for my current setup.) http://pcpartpicker.com/p/i8eR Thanks this site will help when it comes time to gut out Tumbler and put in all state of the art or near state of the art parts for the inevitable hardware update that will be coming soon for it. It will also help to know what I'm getting in to because out where I live the prices of just about everything computerized is about the same level as South Africa very pricey so everyone here just waits for the sales. Plus factor in since about 4 years ago the government here introduced a sin tax of sorts that adds an extra fee to just about every electronic component/device because the environmentalists were going on and on about how people were improperly disposing their End of Life stuff. Even though were I live I can just do an hours drive to Blaine, Washington and buy my computer stuff there with out the sin tax and even get a cheaper deal overall. Sin tax and 12% sales tax be dammed. And speaking of sales this is the new screen I got for Tumbler... ![]() It's a Samsung S24B300 24' inch LED screen and it looks VERY nice everything is sharp and crisp colors pop and it has a 5 millisecond refresh rate and it and it also has HDMI output and normally this screen goes for about $240 but I got it at the Staples for only $160 after taxes. The system is also very top shelf for playing UT2k4 with all settings topped out I should make a video sometime after I install Bandicam to this system comparing Prometheus and the new system on the block Tumbler. |

your graphics card would be the only thing hindering your ability to play on high. And also, more RAM couldn't hurt. Most places sell 8 Gb for 45 bucks or so. You didn't mention which OS you have, vista is very demanding and will use most of your 4Gb, 7 not so much, but even still. Something worth looking into should you get a spare 40. Also, it just occurred to me the name Tumbler is totally fitting. It looks like one. Ha. Forgive the question, but I don't like to assume, how tech savvy are you when it comes to PC parts? Edit: here's my build. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ie3v They don't have my mouse on the list but I found one that costs the same (mostly). If you want to save 80 bucks, get the win 7 home premium upgrade kit, not the full one. Install once, don't activate, install again over that. It'll trick the OS into thinking you upgraded since it looks for a vista base, which 7 has. Free 80 bucks over the 180 dollar full upgrade. |

I have Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 on this system I also updated the first post to reflect this oversight. The funny thing is the guy at the store to sweeten the deal of me buying this system off of him was also offering to add another 4 GB of RAM to make a 8 GB system for free but when he added the RAM the motherboard did not want to take it so it stuck on the BIOS section of start up until he removed it. So I know when I do upgrade this system the motherboard has got to be replaced as one of the first things to do. I do have a working knowledge of computer systems but on the gaming side of things it's about under half that. When I got my first computer ever built the shop that was also the same place where I got this one from asked me what I was looking to do with it and at the time and it was just a $1000 workstation that can watch/copy disks and work on school work and that's it (I also still have it even though it does not work so well anymore). And yeah the name Tumbler was the first thing that poped in to my head when I first saw it being brought out. Also when I was taking my trip in Portland last week I watched The Dark Knight Rises so that must of helped with coming up with the name. |
