The point is, BW whilst excellent, does have some problems, but then again show me software that doesn't!

Please remember: BW is developed on a 100% no budget !!! by 2 guys who give most of their time to it.
"Donations" does go to some way to help with the hardware, but it is not very much, partialy because we don't (yet) have a proper payment system in place, and partialy because licensing is very restrictive.

This will change in the future, as the devs are working towards a whole game, or TC which they can sell. This may mean moving to another engine with better licensing options, we will have to see, but rest assured, BW is here to stay.

On the devs journey with their projects there will be problems along the way, and some people will be kept happy, some not. Can't please everyone all of the time

The devs are here to produce a game mod of such excellance that displays their talent. Constructive and usefull critisim is always helpful as is praise.

Ok... Well the good news for everyone if that there is a patch very near to release...

The SRS900 has changed
We will investigate stuff like the m50 aiming

The AM67 is less powerful
The revolver is a terrible force in the hands of a skilled user and a quick shortcut to the grave for less skilled users...
A bug with the XRS10 and FIty9 was fixed which kept their recoil down, especially in iron sights...

We'll investigate the sniper weapons...

We wil basically go over all aiming and balance stuff, but ultimately, I have found tha the weapon used is not the most important factor, but rather the person holding it is the most important factor...
That is balance!

We have fixed alot of bugs and added lots of little improvements.
I really can't wait to see the complaints about balance when we introduce the mutator that gives you better guns for doing better in the game...

BW seems to be the most balanced game I have played... Think of things like UT, CS, HL, Unreal, etc...

There will be a beta, so we can hopefully get rid of the worst bugs afecting the game. Right now (v2.1 beta), it plays very nice in MP and hasn't crashed (for us) in ages...
some systems, like dual wielding, are so prone to bugs and the only way around it is to go for a TC, which is our plan.

Anyway, I must work, a great many problems require my attention...
Yesterday (sunday) put 19 hours of work into the patch and staurday wasn't much different, and so it goes...

BW's home (a UT mutator) is now too small to contain the gameplay we are aiming at, so expect big changes down the line...

Before we started BW, we set out to make a game the perfect game in OUR opinion. We wanted the best features that some other games had had and as few of the bad ones as possible and a ton of our own new ideas (eg. decent grenades).
The day we make BW the way other people want it, ignore our own vision, is the day BW will die...



Oh, sorry, I forgot the server stuff...
I think its a good idea if we document the config options for the ini file.
I tried adding stuff to te wbadmin, but I gave up because UT has no friggin decent list component! I couldn't add the loadout, arena and swapping lists!!! So ini will have to do for now... I'll just document all the options...

As to Kaboodles, I do apologize for the low blow, but it’s to make sure your paying attention. A lot of the issues you have brought up I agree with aside from the pistols, but that’s for a different issues. And I already read through your threads as part of my investigation. Bringing up the problem for the third time is the charm.

Edit: By "balance" I meant that they had one of each weapons. I've seen mods where they just made new shockrifles. BW atleast coveres many grounds.

That makes sense I guess. Though discussing the weaknesses of the M50 and SRS is really nothing more than a new balance discussion. And I meant my definition of balance, not yours.

And to the devs: I know your ultimate goal is your TC, but I don't think you should allow your current product to suffer in anticipation for a new product. Unless that new product is coming very soon O.o

Also, can you please change the way Iron sights work? And I'm not talking about making the sights actually line up. I'm talking about the way you activate them. They should come up much faster, and I don't think you should have to hold down the sight button to use it. Just a button press and it's up.

There should also definitely be a forced speed reduction in iron sight mode. Like a forced walk or something.

I say this because I know a guy who has iron sights constantly on, the whole time. He just holds down the sight button, so even when he's sprinting or dodging around, he'll go right back to sights when he stops. Perfect accuracy all the time. It's even worse when he's got the Rail Gun, as he just zooms out all the way to 1x zoom and runs around with it.

My only complaint with BW would be to have the crosshairs go away when you enter Iron sights mode.

Wow Shadowblade, from the way you describe the BW TC I am beginning to worry it might go retail... Is it really that good? CS in a grave, thats one hell of a feet.

There's no reason to suppose that our server would not have grown to the same popularity as Wup's servers given time. As far as Balance Im not to worried. I play maybe 3-4 times a month and thats it. I have no time for anything else. I Run the Invasion with regular weapons until we can find the Magic Bug's source. Yes they do have higher capacities simply cause I have the bandwidth in several locations. Im glad there are other servers out there, Make for a different experience. I don't think i run any 3SPN game types. I think anyone who takes the time to provide a gaming experience for the public should be applauded.

yes.. we intend to start our TC, then move it into retail.. we know how to make it better than other multiplayer games, we just gotta do it..

we will of course listen to complaints, and act accordingly.. but in the end, we have the final say, and if we feel that nothing needs improving, thats how it will be granted, some things in BW could use some improvement, but we'll certainly not change that which we don't think needs it..

bug sqaushing.. busy with that.. patch getting along nicely.. the TC in general, should take care of the major bugs.. dual wielding, most crashes.. etc all the horrors

along with that, we will include options for pretty much everything, damages for each weapon, accuracy, the works.. then no one will be able to complain

Another issue, is the fact that on online play, firegrenades don't do damage, and don't ignite Gas.

It's more of a case of evaluating each suggestion to see how it fits in with the devs ideas and plan/vision. If it is totaly out of place, then it's not going to go anywhere fast...if it fits, then it stands a good chance...and there ARE good ideas around, some even spawn off better ideas and other directions!!

Suggestions ARE NOT ignored...just placed according to the "bigger picture" ! some are downright out of place, some fit in...

BTW, you wouldn't be here playing BW if you didn't like the devs vision, as it make BW what it is...

Alot of the features that work in Instant Action do not work at the server level. Like the Grenades for instance, All it will take is some enhanced netcode to send the info to the clients.

actually, in 2.0, grenades are synched perfect on clients and server before that, they could easily be way off, but now they aint..

About the 'instant ironsights', I am not keen to make the ironsights come up instantly... They work more realistically how they are. As for limiting movement with iron sights, thats more like a good idea. We have wanted to improve that aspect of the iron sights before, but have never managed to get around to it. I will put that on the list and try improve it for the patch.

The grenades and network!, Aaargh! thats some of the nastiest netcode! Karma has so many stupid bugs, the amount fo work I had to do to keep the grenades 'in the level' was idiotc...
I will go over it again adn see if it can be improved in anyway without destroying bandwidth...
The FP7 DOES damage people in net games, it might just be a tiny bit out of sync on slow connections and appear as though it is not because the effects appeared away from where the grenade actually went off on the server...

Our aims with the TC are high, you wouldn't want us to aim low and produce a half hearted, lilly livered chicken s**t coward mod thats too afraid to be great, now would you?

What other serious MP bugs are there? Any we haven't already got on our list...

Maybe not instant, but I would certainly prefer it if you didn't have to hold down the button for it. A single button press would be much more convenient.

As for MP bugs:

-FP7 doesn't do damage online. Not the little flames on the ground or the immolation.

-Collision is very wonky when standing still it seems. When testing weapon damages with some buddies (before I found WOTgreal and found I could just look at the code), I've found it rather difficult to hit someone's head, even at near point blank range, while he's standing still. The head seems to be located somewhere around the sternum, as actually aiming at the person's head only gets me a torso hit (no brain chunk effects or increased damage).

-Fuel tank collision bug is probably related to the problem above. Shooting at it with a bullet weapon directly from behind just lets bullets go straight through, with no damage to the guy wearing it, at least while he's standing still.

-Inconsistencies with weapon ammo pickups and magazine size, like the MRT6 having ammo pickups with 6 shells in a clip, or XK2 ammo pickups with only 40 rounds in a clip. Not limited to multiplayer, but they're still there. Personally, with the MRT6, I'd just decrease the weapon's clip capacity, as that thing's a monster.

-Another not-necessarily MP bug, but tossing the Lightning gun when it's overheated resets the heat level, allowing someone to be able to fire continuously with less concern for heat. Shouldn't be too much of a problem to fix, as weapons already remember how many bullets are in its clip. You should let pickups also remember other things, like if they're already cocked, or silenced, or laser-sighted or whatever. Of course, the laser and silencer thing might require you to make different pickup meshes, but that shouldn't be too hard, should it?

That's about all I can think of off the top of my head.

If this turns into a TC, have new vehicles and a new HUD.

Some of the inconsistent pickups have been fixed.
I think we reduced the MRT6 clip ammo pickup because 16 was too many...

Eveerything will be up for balance tweaks, but I don't think MRT6 is too overpowered. It is useless at any range beyond the length of your nose... Of course, its a cannon close, so if you play lots of close combat, then yes, you will find it very painful...

The pickup meshes are not worth the extra effort. Tossed weapons retaining some of the weapons' properties, might be good, but, well, we'll see...

As for the TC, we hope to eliminate ALL elements of UT... The idea is to finally give people the Archon gameplay that we have been wanting to play ourselves for so long...

Yeah, have it come up like it does but having it so you don't need to hold down the key to have it come up would be amazing.
