A major problem with the development of Ballistic Weapons is now weapon and ammo pickups... UT2004 has a few (9 or so) weapon pickups in each map while Ballistc Weapons has 20 weapons and more will be coming! The obvious solution is to forget about weapon pickups and use a Loadout (like already in the mod) or Buying system, but they are not the same as the old pickup style matches. We have a number of ideas, but none of them are a perfect way of doing pickups. We need ideas and suggestions, so please use this thread to post your ideas and solutions to the problem...
Here are some of the possible systems for getting equipment, especially weapons and ammo. (1), Buying: Players use 'credits' and 'tokens' to buy equipments at buying 'stations'. Credits are gained by picking them up, killing enemies and acheiving things. Tokens are rare and can be picked up. Killing certain enemies can sometimes cause a token to be spawned, expecially if the enemy is very tough. Stations are small areas where players can trade in their credits and tokens for equipment. They will likely replace weapon pickups. Credits can be used for buying all kinds of items and will be lost once the item is bought. Items will vary in price depending on their value. Tokens always represent certain equipment, such as a weapon and will be cashed to get that item without spending any credits. Players do NOT need to respawn to buy and can buy at anytime during the game by going to a station. When players die, they lose their equipment and respawn with the default gear, but they keep the credits and tokens they had before. (2), Generic Ammo: All ammo pickups replaced with a generic ammo pickup that gives players ammo whatever weapons they have. Players should possibly drop ammo when they die... Weapon pickups will function like the current version: One of several weapons will be spawned randomly, replacing each UT weapon pickup. (e.g: M50, XK2 and M763 instead of UT minigun) Weapon pickups will change into the other types during the game. (3), Traditional pickups: Each UT weapon pickups is replaced with a BW weapon. All the ammo for that weapon is replaced with the appropriate BW ammo. The problem: Only 9 weapons will be in at once... We could have is switch during the game and change all teh M50's and their ammo into XK2's and their ammo... Your ideas please...

My three ideas. 1. I think a simple mutator to choose which BW gun replaces which default weapon would be nice. 2. Ballistic Random, when this mutator/flag property in Game Rules is activated, the default UT2004 weapons are replaced with a BW weapon that the computer randomly selects. 3. Simply start making maps for the mod that are very big and have many guns, you guys would have to script extra weapon slots first I think. This idea is far fetched, but BW maps would be great. Maybe use idea one & two, and slowly implement idea three.

i like it the way it is like #3! But i don't really understand the bottom part about "The problem: Only 9 weapons will be in at once... We could have is switch during the game and change all teh M50's and their ammo into XK2's and their ammo..." It would be cool if for the Ballistic mutator that you could choose sets kinda like Ballistic Arena but theirs only a limit of 9 weapons, it would show say UT minigun replace with Ex: machine gun 353 (whatever its called)!! and then it sapwns in-game where it is with the right ammo replacing the UT minigun! than also their would be an option to just go into a match with the Ballistic mutator on like it is now without knowing what weapons will be spawned! |

Well, #1 sounds too complex and imo it would be a shame to lose the custom ammo pickups (#2), so I guess that leaves option #3. Btw, I don't really mind that you can only have 9 weapons at once, I just select whichever ones are most appropriate for a particular map or gametype via WoRM. |

No becasue what i'm saying is that for the Ballistic mutator their would (or will) be 2 yes 2 options for chooseing weapons & their ammo!! 1) Just the same way as it is now with Ballistic mutator namely 1.6! 2) You choose the 9 weapons that you want to be replaced around the map like say reaplceing the minigun with the M50 (you could choose all 9 weapons like how WoRm2k4 sorta does it), the mut would do it along with adding its ammo to the right weapon! So never again will the G5 RPG ammo be replaced by the M50's and so on and so forth!! Please RS this would fix everything have both of these to use for the Ballistic mutator! Please add this to either 1.7 or the next version after 1.7! |

We could do one that (like worm)... We could add an option for randomness as well... There would only ever be 9 weapons in at once... If you wanted more, you'd have to use Loadout or Arena... |

as someone had said they was a probelm with the drunk walking bug using WoRm and the BW's!! Plus adding someone like WoRm would make BW CTF matches fair!! Almost everytime i go to my base their some weapon like the shotgun that in the enemy base they get a rocket laucher instead of our shotgun! |

a well forget what i said, anyway Bjossi open up any CTF map and play with Ballistic weapons and you'll see that Red teams weapons will be different from Blue or at least a few weapons anyway! |

This bug should be made as a feature, you never know what kind of firepower the enemy team has if the option is enabled. |

Hey...why not make stuff like weapon lockers with various weapons replacing every weapon? Make it so that when you walk into it, it gives you one random weapon out of like 2 or 3, and you got to wait at least a minute before YOU can get a different one. But, like weapon lockers, other people still can get a weapon. Not sure bout this, first thing off the top of my head. |

I wouldn't think so, they could just run up to it like they do a weapon locker...only problem that might be there is that they'll continue to run through it because they didn't get all the weapons...CAMPERS! |

But this idea just doesn´t sound right to me anyways, it doesn´t make sense why the player would only be able to get a random weapon out of the locker and another one a minute later. Sounds pretty arcady. |
