I was just wondering if you guys ever figured out what was causing some of us to get the version mismatch error when joining a BW server even after having installed everything correctly. I know a lot of players got discouraged from this and quit playing. It does make it really hard to play on different servers. From what I hear this is one of the main reasons there are so few players. I did a search on this but could not find anything conclusive or up to date. |

someone figured it out, it had something to do with the naming of the BW files, don't know how, it just is (or at least i think it is), SB and DC said they are working on fixing it. |

It is simple UglyPants, if the server finds files in the UT2004 folder of the client, it won't attempt to download the updated files from the server. |

ah. Then should all servers running BW have the version and any other BW files (like spnsor packs or bonus packs or BW mappacks) in the name? |

Well I had this problem before but I figured out a trick to fix it. I simply deleted all the BW files in my system folder before joining the server thereby forcing the game to download the correct files. I had to do this even though I installed everything. But every time I want to play a different server I have to do this for each it seems which is really annoying. Most people would not want to be bothered with all this. Maybe this info will be helpful to the devs. I think only the system files are causing the problem. |

Now that is helpful for them, now they don't need to re-name every BW file. since this about version mismatches, can i ask this one question... why is it that even if you have the exact same files as the server (BW files) the server gives you a mistmatch? Is it just the horrible servers of UT2k4 or is it something else? |

Because the files in your folder don't match the ones used on the server, ie. version mismatch. And I don't see a problem renaming all the BW files, it takes time measured in seconds. |

That still doesn't make sense, if i have BW 1.72 and the server has BW 1.72 why would it give a mismatch? |

it shouldnt!! unless the server has other stuff too that would give crap.. some servers have latest files, and some dont!! so u might join one, thats the latest, then join another which is not, and get an error!! update to the latest version and join Wup's server.. that should wrok fine 
anyway, we'll try renaming everything in 2.0, and hopefully eliminate all such things for 2.0

Dunno man, I have looked over this problem 60+ times and still brings me back to the same thing. Most people get the Mismatch after they install the UMOD. |

In that case you should, or at least delete the entries related to the RS mods since you already have it installed. |

Why do you need a readme? Just open the cache folder and delete the files related to BW, if that is hard for you to do, then why were you bothering with PC gaming?
