my computer is not exactly the fastest one out there (but it's also not the slowest), so i have a hard time getting ballistics to run smoothly on my computer. i have to turn EVERY thing down to almost the LOWEST (i can not stand playing ballistics on LOWEST quality any more. while the ballistics graphics are good ut2004's suck. like the building textures and player textures in all.), and i still get a little lag. could ballistics be formated to work on lower end computers too? i run ut2004 on all normal settings but when i go play ballistics it's terrible! maybe a config option to turn down ballistics graphics quality a little? that would be so great! i am sure the team can think of something for their fans right? please consider adding this to the next version
it would mean a LOT to me. thanks. |

If you can´t run UT2004 with everything on max, your computer has to be very bad. Mine is 2 years old and it runs UT2004 and Ballistic Weapons smoothly on max settings. |

dude, dude, dude................ not EVERY computer was made for games. my comp is 2 years old too. yes my comp could be faster, but it can run most games of today (besides doom3). i dont know whats up with BW............... my comp should be able to handle it. but thats not the point is it? i just want to know if they could do this for me. not every ones computer is like yours, my comp wasnt specified for gaming action. AND NO! my computer is not "bad", it's quite kick a** actually. i just want a option in the config to lower BW's graphics a little. Post edited by: James, at: 2006/01/23 22:57 |

Only Ballistic gives me slowdown problems, though they go away after I've seen all the weapons and their effects. One thing that might be causing it is the bots and their desire to spam FP9 packs. I've noticed that I get a lot less slow down when bots don't start with 'em. Of course, I could be wrong. |

i just want a option in the config to lower BW's graphics a little. You shouldn´t need that option if your computer kicks ass. There is a log spam bug, it caused slowdowns for me in ONS, how big is your log file after playing? If it is larger than 250 Kbs, it is not normal. |

Yeah, that would be handy IF it were possible! I don't think we're gonna be able to make the game scale down BW's stuff without also scaling down UT's. Your best bet is to turn down Character texture detail, not world, because char detail affects weapon skins, not world... |

i just said my comp is not meant for mad gaming. do i really have to repeat myself? like i said, i dont have a problem playing regular ut2004. so it just makes me wonder. and i cant't really stand playing ut with these terrible graphics any more. |

And you said your computer kicked ass, were you talking about office work?
About your problem, I suggested checking the log file, if it´s very big (250+ Kbs) then that might be the cause of the slowdowns. |

Ok, play a match that stutters and then check out the log file after exiting the game. Post edited by: Bjossi, at: 2006/01/25 11:20 |

i played a round of deathmatch at the ballistics depot map WITH reduced settings. i had very little slow down. the log file was 12Kb. does that sound right with little to no slow down. i will go back and play on normal settings. ok, i played on normal settings and got MAJOR lag. the log file size was 20Kb. does this sound right? 20 Kbs is quite small, but don´t you think it´s weird the log file sized up by 8 Kbs by simply changing the gfx settings? There is definately a bug that causes the slowdowns, maybe it doesn´t affect me because I have a quite fast processor, and the game is probably more optimized for Windows operating systems. |

2.8e Ghz Pentium 4, running at 800FSB. And 1 Gb of DDR400 memory in dualchannel. That does make a nice combo for a game that doesn´t rely much on the video card. (thank gawd for that because my gfx card sucks)
