I love the iron sights in the game but have one question...How come the front and the back sights dont line up?

I'm not sure where this topic fits in, but definitely not this forum. What do you mean by front and back sights? |

I don't see how it doesn't... You know how sights work, right? You line up the sights near the front of the barrel with the sights in at the end of the barrel to make sure your gun is pointing the right way. In BW, the front and rear sights don't line up when you go to Iron Sights mode, which I noticed too. It's kind of a minor thing in my opinion, but it is a bit annoying. |

I have never noticed it. And this is the weapons forum right? Are the iron sights a weapon? No, it is a feature of course, and is there a forum for discussing features? No, only request them. So I'd say BW Support is the best option don't you think? |

Well, it was talking about the weapons, but move it if you feel a need to.

ok.. we didnt line up the to sights (we have tried) but the gun stuck into the screen.. looked like shit.. so we settled on only doing the front sight..

Ok, I had a feeling the reason was something like that. We were just wondering.

It doesn't affect me in my aim in any way, so it doesn't matter too much! Of course, my bro is gonna complain, just because he wants to prove this is not the best mod for UT. Which everyone here knows it is.

That's a matter of opinion, there will always be 3 groups of people; ones who like, ones who dislike and ones who haven't played.
But seriously, I have tried my best but I just can't see that misalignment everyone talks about.

Its nothing that really affects gameplay or anything, nothing to really make a big deal over... One question Bjossi, have you ever looked down the sights of a gun? If you have you probably would know what we're talking about, but I don't think you have, so if UP gets a screenshot of it up it'd be much easier to explain.

It doesnt affect gameplay or nothing but you know its there. It just bugged me a little so I figured might as well just ask. The front one in yellow should match up with the back one in green, so you would be looking through the back one at the front one. As SB said, it was tried and didn't really work out, made things look worse. |

And if we are speaking about the iron sights, when you have them activated you should get a bit of zoom, not really zoom, but you perspective gets bigger. i'll try to find an example with day Of Deafeat source. |

Well, it does change you FOV to 80, and if you don't have your default POV at that, it is a noticeable zoom. |

okay. Does anyone wonder why the curretn Iron sights still keep the crosshairs? Becuase your not supposed to have crosshairs when viewing through the sights, its the whole point, you get a steady shoot (walk slower), bit of a zoom, and no crosshairs. which BW doesn't have right now, kinda defeats the purpose of it. then again, we aren't even looking directly through the sights at all *sigh*. |

I just turn the crosshairs off altogether.

I'm even more curious what is generating the crosshairs in the first place. |

I noticed wehn you go into iron-sight mode, the crosshair goes half-invisible. it could be changed easily to change opacity to highest to make it go away (or was it to lowest? I think it was highest opacity for invisible). |

No, but did you mean generating them at the end of the iron sights? If so its just because RS didn't really make the iron sights in BW like real iron sights. |

Yep, but i can live with it, though it'd be cool if i did act like an iron sights, and i'd be cool, if you could see if i player is using them or not, now that would be cool, so like you could tell if someone had them on by the animations they are using to hold the gun. Which brings me to a point, does anyone hate the way the players in UT2k4 hold the weapons? Its retarded. just messed up, when holding two assault rifle you get collision between the model and the player. |

The game was not made for looks, it was made only for gameplay, that should have been VERY obvious. So, collisions in guns and players should be obvious, but they don't affect the game, I hope. |

I'd say the looks is the game's strong point, the default gameplay is lame; weak-sounding weapons, double jumping, weird characters, Egypt theme, weak-sounding weapons and weak sounding weapons. Did I mention weak-sounding weapons?
But I've never noticed those collision problems, in general they do look ugly and kind of ruin the fun if they are very obvious. |

I'll admit the weapons were crap, but that's why the game's other strong point was modding to have new stuff, like guns. |

The problem is the limited audio encoding support basicly prevents mod makers from being able to make high quality sounds that can make some noise. |
