Ballistic Weapons v1.70 BETA Release

There is no Manual included with this release

1) Installing:

Install the files from Ballistic170Beta.zip, then install the new system file from Ballisticv170Beta2.zip afterwards.

Simply extract all files to your UT2004 directory, making certain that the "Use Folder Names" option is on. If there is a problem, the following is where the files should be placed:

Ballistic.u (System)
Ballistic.int (System)
Ballistic.ucl (System)
BCore.u (System)
Itemizer.ini (System)
BallisticAnims (Animations)
BallisticHardware (StaticMeshes)
BallisticWeapons (Textures)
BallisticUI (Textures)
BallisticItems (Textures)
BallisticEffects (Textures)
BallisticBlood (Textures)
BallisticSounds (Sounds)


2) ServerPackages

First, open up your UT2004.ini file, located in the "System" directory of your UT2004 folder, and find your way to the lines that read "ServerPackages=.......". Next, just add the lines: "ServerPackages=Ballistic, and "ServerPackages=BCore without the " marks, below all the other ServerPackages.


3) Bugs

OK.. things that need to be tested.. best way to find bugs is just to play, preferablly in a multiplayer game-mode. Try playing standard Ballistic with no other mutators or gametypes active. Those can be tryed out if all else with it is OK.
The only notable bug is the elusive "High Rail Shot".. this bug may or may not have been fixed for this version. We cannot get it to happen, but you can try finding it.. Try firing off into the distance in very big maps, such as most onslaught, etc. Also try firing straight down from very high places..

In general though, just playing the things is the best way of find bugs! Also try tweaking all the included options, and seeing if they all work, or have any problems.. Tweak your crosshairs as well, and all accuracy, damage and such options.. Try all weapon implementation methods, all standard gametypes, and verious other settings.

When reporting bugs, make sure you know exactly how to recreate the situation in which the bug occured, so you can cause it to happen again and can tell us exactly how to make it happen...

I have played few deathmatch matches so far and tested all the options and features and it is seems to be all working fine for me.
:)

The only tiny thing I noticed is that if I flag Use Default Crosshair, the game will use the Ballistic ones anyways. But maybe it is just my auto-doubleclick mouse playing tricks on me.

I think this version is perfect, and be careful when using the decals stay options, I started to notice lag about 10 minutes into a match with 8 aggressive bots.

I therefore report no gameplay bugs on my behalf. Sliders working, cocking/iron sights working, guns working, and I can go on and on.

hey.. glad 2 hear its all ok so far!! we have just signed up 3 more beta guys, so we'll see..

we will just check out that crosshair thing and see whats up.. hope its nothing to bad:)

Decals are hit/blood marks by the way.

I want to say "Thank you for allowing me to test 'The best Weapons mod ever.'";) Anyway it took about three hours to d/l(me being a 56ker and all), I was able to only play a couple hours last night all on DM. I have to say to the new iron sites are great. I will report more as I go. Will try all the rest of the game types I have and give you more in depth later. Wish someone would come up with a training map that only has targets to shoot, so you can get the feel of a weapon and not worry about someone or something coming up behind you. :woohoo:

hey.. decals stay lets impact, bullet and similar marks stay for long.. for blood, there is an option under the blood section to make gore stay for long..

to get Loadout, use the Ballistic Loadout mutator for standard DM, or using the Ballistic DM gametype, it is under the game rules tab.. BW gametypes dont have much point for the moment, as we got Dark Players to work on mutators:)

glad you all enjoying itB) and that training map is an interesting idea.. maybe i can work on something like that.. my PC was down for several days:(

hi,

can you put version to yours files

because refirect case is hard to erase file eatch time

and i can try the beta 1.7

maybe less lag and files more small

:)

ex: ballistic170.u

because redirect fail and user can have version mismatch

Well I have played 1.7 for a couple hours now, with DM, AS, ONS, and INV. Except for AS all ran smoothly, AS was a little laggy (possibly because I had the map limit of bots). My wife, MommyDearest, also played using BW. She was dismayed at the lack of alt-fire for some weapons (shotguns mostly), and doesn't like the fact you have to re-load :blink: The only thing that I noticed is the muzzle smoke after you fire. I'm not a big fan of it, with some guns, because of recoil it becomes a sort of light trail, as if I was revisiting a drunkin bender from my teen years.:unsure: Wish there was a server we could try BW online with.;)

It's just got put on the board of to-do's :)
An option to turn it off or on. lets hope the developers can do it :)

hey hey.. what do you mean about the reloading??

and muzzle smoke will be an option soon.. its on the board so wont take long..

alt-fires and special attacks can be revised for v1.8 or 1.9.. for now they stay as they are..

I'm happy to say that the high shot bug seems to be gone. On the other hand, an old bug came back. If you have "switch weapons on pick up" checked, it doesn't follow your personal priority settings. It just switches to the weapon you picked up regardless of its position on the list. You had this fixed in 1.5 ,but, now it's back. No other problems yet. Maybe I could get a few of the beta testers to join a server for an hour or so later. Be nice to check it out in multiplayer.

Does anyone have a server we could use?:) I noticed the weapon change thing also, didn't affect gameply unless it changed from rifle or machine-gun to landmine or remote bomb during fire fight.:blink: And for the re-loading, my wife feels that it stresses her out to have to think about re-loading. She's wierd that way. :blush: :blush: I like it, makes the weapons more believable. :)

Loadout worked OK for me. I have noticed a few skips and stutters in the game from time to time. Hard to explain. Almost like a split second freeze, then gone.It's not my machine. I'm running a 3.8 P4 with hyperthreading, 2 gigs of RAM and dual 256 Nvidia cards.

Are you talking about files sitting on a mirror somewhere? I could unserstand if that is a problem, but usually the package sent out is versioned in the name.

Sorry we have a hard time understanding you, but we'll do our best :)

the weapon priorities again..AAHAGHHAG.. :angry: better have a look again.. if anyone else has similar problems, please report.. glad to hear high shot is gone:)

In the current version (1.61) there is a bug which causes you to only have 12 starting ammo for the pistol when you use WoRM. If you use Ballistic's own replacement muts, you get 24 extra ammo (2 clips). Has this been fixed for 1.7?

When testing 1.7 I found that, if you use regular BW you get 12rounds and 24rounds extra. When using worm you get 12rounds no extra. When using the BW arena(sidarms only option) you get 12rounds and 64extra.:cheer:
