I'll get ShadowBlade to run some tests
But, I doubt it....textures have been reduced so maybe there will be some improvement...
I'll leave it up to the developers to comment here...

I know that most people using ballistic weapons have decent rigs (like me) mostly 5200's and 512 ram and the other stuff nothing truely fancy, so its been bugging me for the longest time that you can't really play (unless you have a great PC which most BW fans don't have) any gametypes with BW's with only 7 or less bots! going to 19 is totally uncalled for (nigh unplayable due to lag)! I'm thinking that there's a lot of data or something thats really affecting the bots when they use the Ballistic Weapons, which in turn makes for lag!! My question DOES or WILL v1.7 have better proformance offline so that we can have larger bot battles without suffering slow frames or choppyiness? |

I don't think there is a way without altering the engine itself. And to be honest, 512 Mb is crap, it is the reason why the game is so sluggish over all. 1 Gb is decent, 1.5 Gb isn't really neccesary but could help. Just upgrade people, it is not expensive at all, my current old geezer is less worth than $400 and it runs UT2004 maxed out with BW with average 50 FPS. |

Ok, thinking about it, and chatting to the guys... It depends largely on amount of bots, size of map etc. They say they can play up to about 10 bots, after that it goes downhill. It seems to be a UT thing tho...Although there is a lot of options to play with in 1.7

I just upgraded from 1 Gb to 1.5, and it does seem to help somewhat. Let's not forget that the OS (Windows XP for most people) takes up a lot of RAM too, so if you want a clean 1 GB, you'll actually need more than 1 Gb. If you know what I mean... BUT... I've noticed that explosions cause more lag than anything else in BW. Avoid the G5, M50 (grenade altfire), hand grenades etc., and you can have a decent game on relatively high settings with the other weapons, assuming your PC isn't total crap. That is true, but 1 Gb gives great features like instant shutdown of UT2004, as soon as I click yes to quit the game I'm back to the desktop the same second. |

We have the very same processor. But you should be getting better performance I would think. However, after testing again I do get lag when there are many explosions and bunch of bots shooting at the same time. Probably the processor isn't coping with the demand. :S |

hey hey.. on my rig celeron 1.1gz, bots really make it slow.. only 2-5 bots or really slow!.. ballistic shouldnt make the bots any slower, only the added effects and so on.. v1.7 fixes a number of performane issues, by downisizing the textures, and particle textures.. it helps with the ram... v1.7 is the one to have now.. it is much more stable and more reliable in general, there are tons of option and performance is much better:) |

That is not hard since my current PC sucks, none of the hardware exists anymore except on eBay or something. 
But my new PC however, will run Quake 4 on Ultra Quality, 1024 x 768, 16xAF/8xAA, averaging 40 FPS.

I'm hopfully going to buy a PC middle of Fall or start of school (crapiness) it will hopefully have Nvidia SLI 7900 GT video cards and 2 gigs of ram & 2.6 dual core AMD CPU and 500 (2x250 Raid0) harddrive and to top it all off i'm hoping its going to have a Ageia PhysX Processing Unit w/ 128MB GDDR3 !!B)

Running two drives in RAID0 is a bad idea if you care about the data you store there. If one drive dies, data is lost permamently on both. :S |
