Yeah, I haven't left UT2004 yet, guys. Just been inactive on it...sitting in the corner waiting for THIS.

Not really...but MAN, nice job. The gore looks AWESOME, as well as everything else!

Is there a fast forward button on each of the beta testers?

Not really. Plus we won't catch as many bugs, which is what we are here for.

Beta testing is going well & fast so far, quite a few bugs have been found. So I'd say 2.0 final isn't too far away.

Just need to have the devs fix them and 2.0 will be in public service soon enough.

How are the optimizations? BW really slows UT down noticibly for me, and I don't exactly have a lightweight machine.

I have to agree there, my framerate gets a huge boost when disabling BW. While using it I lower AA from 4x to 2x just so my framerate stays over 50 all the time.

as far as optimization i used to get the odd hangup every now and then with the old mod, now i dont think ive had any. so i think the optimization has improved

hey Drac!

yes, the gore has sure undergone a huge revamp.. :)

we have optimized 2.0 more than previous version, although BW is still slower than UT2004.. BW is newer remember :D

there are some crap bugs in there, but we'll be testing until its solid.. :)

Never noticed that BW slowed UT2004 down

About those bugs i guess there wont be much of them ;) (all hail the gods of RS )
I like the new banner

I think I've got some other kind of problem, anyway. I mean, I have an GeForce8800, and I've had to do things like turn trilinear filtering off, lower detail levels, and set BW effects to 'very low,' just to get everything smooth. During DM, it's mostly ok. Seems like when I play a different gametype, or play a converted map in DM, it takes a big hit.

EDIT: I guess it's a driver issue, I found a .ini fix that takes care of the performance issues, but when I do it, it messes with all the decals. All blood, impact, etc. are just big squares.

Remember that you should be pointing fingers at your processor, not the video card. Because a 8800 series of cards should have no problems with 16xAF/8xFSAA on max graphics quality to run UT2004 very smoothly.

But since UT2004 uses the processor mostly, the above isn't the case here.

I know, that's what was grinding my gears so much! But I have an Athlon 64 X2, so I didn't think that should be a problem, either.

I understand it's a driver issue with how the 8800 handles lighting and transform. I'd heard it was fixed in the newest Vista drivers, so I guess I just have to wait to see if they put that fix in an XP update.

It's disappointing because I'm really looking forward to the new Bloody Hell effects, those look so sweet. But if I continue running the fix that gives me decent performance, all the decals are just big ugly squares, so it all looks funny with Bloody Hell turned on.

Having an Athlon 64 X2 isn't enough, you also need to have a CPU, mine is 4400+ (2.19 GHz).

Also memory is a big part of the whole, Vista uses up a lot of resources, better have at least 2 GBs.

Er, what? An Athlon 64 X2 is a CPU, I have the 3500+.

Like I said, I don't have Vista, I have XP, but I also do have 2 gigs of memory.

I'm not kidding, this is a driver issue. I shut off hardware lighting and transform, and it runs like a dream. Considering that turning that option off should degrade performance a lot, I think my hardware is quite sufficient.

I'm using 84.21, but that is way too old for the 8800. So all you can do is to wait for better drivers I guess.

UR.. sounds about right.. i know drivers give crap alot :)

@BJ.. only 2.19 ghz !dodge.. i thought it was better than that.. your GPU certainly is big :)

Please don't tell me you think the frequency of wave signals sent across the processor unit is what makes all the performance. !dodge
