First off, I have downloaded and played with more weapons packs than you can imagine. Ho-hum.

But, this mod ROCKS!

Of course, the lame ones work right off the bat. In my case, I guess, anything worth having is to be worked for.

I'm running a dedicated server through Insane Gaming Servers at 69.13.114.15:7777. I'd VERY MUCH like to add a Ballistic Weapons DM to my server.

But, here begins the trouble.

I've uploaded all, enabled the serverpackages for Ballistic and BCore. No problems.

But, as soon as I activate a mutator, I get a total crash of the server.

By "total" crash, I mean that it locks up, gives me no ucc log, nothing.

I have to manually go into the 2004.ini and remove all lines partaining to Ballistic to get it back up.

I've tried several combinations with the same results. I tried just enabling the weapons, the loadout (my preference), with and without Bloody Hell, etc. Can't get it to not crash.

I was wondering if anyone had this problem before, and would be grateful for the rest or the story.

By the way, I downloaded 7.0, then uploaded the 7.1 files. And, it works fine on my local version Instant Action, just can't get her to fire up on the server.

Thanks for any info- and GREAT weapons mod. One of the best ever.

HI.. what platform is youre server running? might have someting 2 do with it..

whats different between the server and your own PC...?

anyway, glad you like the mod.. just sucks it crashes..:(

I'm pretty sure it's Linux Redhat 9, but I'll confirm that.

That's the only difference I can see. My home PC is XP with the lastest patches.

The server is Windows 2003 Standard Edition.

Ideas, anyone?

Um, sorry, I don't.
Do other UT mods work and it is only BW crashing it?

There is someone else running a server here, I'm sure he can give us some details on what/how his server is running.

I haven't seen anyone here run on Windows 2003 tho...
I can maybe try and put together a 2003 install and try it out, but that will take a couple of days.

I also want to put a linux box together and try it as well just for info...

Ok- I've found the culprits after every possible combination and rebooting my server some 40 times.

I run a low-grav multi-jump server. I've learned that I can only use a precious few other mutators with BW, which is ok. I'm not sure I'm missing anything.

Following are the mutators I cannot run:
Gamespeed
Air Control
Quad Jump (though low-grav works ok)
And Matrix Moves.

I'm not sure about other mutators, I figured I'd better be pleased with what I have & not push it.

I realize this mod is in the vein of realism, but I thought I'd wean my server into it by using the standard matrix, low grav config. No go.

But, I can use my custom translocator and low grav, so I'm happy. You can easily get to sniping spots, etc.

My server is up & running BW very well. I'm quite pleased.

I'll post in in the servers forum, but if you want to check it out, it's 69.13.114.15:7777.

Thanks for an exceptional piece of work. This mod is great. In fact, I think this would win over my Halo friends.

I run a dedicated server sometimes. I'm using a high end Dell XPS rig. I never had a problem with Quad jump and Ballistic. I don't use a lot of extra mods. I've tried a few. A couple seemed a little buggy , but, none caused a crash. I did have one crash while testing 1.7 Beta, but, I think that may have been a network thing.

Well, I've done more testing, and I can't run any of the Ballistic muts except loadout. Standard Ballistic Weapons crashes, as does Melee and Arena. I also can't add Sprint or Bloody Hell to any of them without a crash. It's frankly wierd to me that I CAN run loadout.

This is running only Ballistic raw, with no additional muts. I get repeated hard crashes as soon as I create a Ballistic-based new gameset, with no ucc.log ever written. I have to manually edit the ut2004.ini & remove the new game style before it will boot back up.

The loadout is a great game in itself, though, and I'm glad I at least have that one running. My customers are loving it and asking for more options.

I had hoped to offer Melee and a custom shotgun/rocket bath.

I'm going to continue working on it. If I figure it out, I'll post answers for anyone else with this prob in the future.

Likewise, if anyone has an idea, I'm all ears.

It doesn't make a log. Crashes before a log is written. That would be nice!

Anyway, here is an update:

Problem solved... sortof...

I guess "worked around" is better. But, it works.

The mutators aren't the problem, but rather something about creating them with the creation of the initial game style setup.

In short, if I do the following, it works with whatever mutators I want (so far):

- Creat a new STANDARD game type, such as regular DM
- Play the game once
- Change the game type to Ballistic Weapons
- Play the game
- Change the mutators

Now I'm good to go.

Makes no sense to me, but neither do women. We learn what works & continue on with life.
