Hello, I love this mutator, it's the only way I play UT2004 now, the weapons are just so excellent and fun to use. Now on to my problem... Firstly, I'm on a Mac, if that changes anything. Since the 1.60 version was released almost every time I switch weapons the screen goes crazy and I start looking in every direction. It's like I started waving the mouse rapidly or something. Now in 1.70 it's still happening (not as frequent) but now the screen either goes bright red, yellow or blue and flips out at the same time. 1.71 didn't fix this issue and I'm hoping there's some kind of fix for it. Thanks. |

Aaargh! I'm having the same problem and I'm running UT in linux. We figure it's a problem for any one not using Windows. I already made a thread about it here, you'll find what we know so far there. |

The damn Mac/Linux-bug is becoming bigger as a problem as the playerbase grows it seems. I think we are going to need help from a person that can UScript and uses a Mac and/or a Linux. :S |

You could create a dual-boot, but it can be risky with Windows and Linux as partners. |

It works well (provided you are faily technicaly minded) once you get it working. I just found I was using XP more, due to the nature of what I use my machine for, and I needed the space, so I got rid of my linux partition. I have a spare small drive at home, so I'll put it in my "games" pc and load linux on there... The other problem, is to see if it is all linux flavours that the problem occurs on (thus definitely something in the engine on the platform) or it is only specific to a certain linux flavour

we would have to see it a linux or mac machine to see what happens.. theres no way we can fix these things, without seeing them ourselves:( |

I found that my weapon chaos shows between 0 and -400000.00 when the gun goes nuts. I don't know if you already knew that, but if not... maybe a simple patch can prevent chaos from ever leaving the 0 to 1.00 range? It was flashing so fast I couldn't see the decimal moving but in slomo. I'll try to find a way to save the data so I can show them to youse and keep screwing with it to see if I can find anything else. This is ghastly; I've seen the chaos value dip below -1,000,000 now. I got some screens to illustrate, and so you can see other stats in case there's something I didn't notice yet. Here's the first. Here's another. I didn't know my view could be rotated that way! Here's another, the most extreme chaos value I have a screen of. Note the 1337.
I tried firing while it goes nuts so you can see what happens. This is just a moment after, when chaos returns to normal. I'm going to take a nap, I'll see your making fun of me later. Oh, yeah- note that there's no inner crosshair-coloured screen flash when I don't use a crosshair. Post edited by: Spiced Hammer, at: 2006/05/14 19:55 |

It has to be the Mac man, why would you even want to play UT2004 on a Mac? |

It is pretty silly to not use Windows to play games, it has more compability than Linux and Mac multiplied together. |

Like I said, I use my computer for more than just games; if I just wanted a video game machine, I'd get a console for only $300-$400 or so. I use Linux because it has low overhead, it only crashes if I do something stoopid, I don't have to pay for antivirus software, I don't have to jump through hoops every time I change something, and I'm spoiled on KDE. (teh über-sexy GUI) I'm not willing to give up stability, security and features so I can be tempted to spend on more games... I'm sure the Mac fans have their own reasons, too. From what I hear, Macs are good multimedia platforms and as stable as Linux. Maybe Cannon Goose spends lots of money on his computer to do something ours aren't up to... As for high-end graphics, I think Macs are like 99% proprietary Apple hardware. If they're known for video applications, the video hardware's probably "high-end". To the point, this thread isn't for telling every one about how you don't understand us not using Windows. This is the support forum, try to be supportive.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I can't see anything wrong with expressing it in a mature or joke kind of way, which people are doing as far as I can see. |

*cough* Back to the point, what do you think's going on? It seems weird my weapon chaos takes on a funky value but not windows users' somehow. I also wonder how it's relating to xhair expansion, since I get a screen flash based on xhair colour. I wonder if a patch to just force chaos to stay between zero and one would work... |
