*the update* back when this forum was dead i announced i was saving for a new comp (sry dudes its a mac  ), and i only had about $500. i now have $1100 (w00t). *the question* besides adding the server packages line to the ut2004.ini what would make it so the zip version wouldn't work? my retarded mac is having problems with umods right now (well really the BW 1.70 umod) so that is not an option. i cant remember what i had to add to the umod but i think it was more than server packages (this umod app i have does the "add lines" thing to the .ini auto. but it ask me before doing it.). i have been having problems with the .zip since BW gold (i think). my ut2004 just doesn't see BW (the .zip vr). so if one of the BW dudes could give me any sort of a hint of what to add to the .ini that would be great. if that is not the case then i will not be able to play BW intill i get my new mac (MONTHS away), which wont have these silly bugs my one does now. any help with this .zip add lines to ut2004.ini would be great................ thanks, James |

i am double posting this on purpose. "For the zip version Simply extract the files to your UT2004 folder making sure making sure that the Use Folder Names option is checked. Note: this will not add the mod to your ServerPackages. you will have to do this manually if you intend to run a server." i think i found my problem. in the manuel from the zip version it says this "making sure making sure that the Use Folder Names option is checked." how do i get this option? is this for PC only? the umod doesnt say i need to do that so........ HELP? |

Use Folder Names is a feature when extracting the ZIP with the WinZip program, I'm not sure if it is available for the Mac. If you are having trouble with UMods, you need to either completely unInstall and then reInstall the game, or fixing the registry keys/file format manually. |

I (and some of my playing group) could't make the BW UMOD install either. I just went low tech and put the files in from the ZIP myself. When there is a patch from UT the UMOD works OK. The problem seems to be with BW. Players with older systems seem to be able to use the UMOD OK. Maybe XP media center edition is the rub. |

The OS has nothing to do with the files, at least not the Windows platforms. UMods need to be properly addressed in the extension library, if you move the UT2004 install folder, extensions will become broken. |

UMOD's will not work if the game has not been installed correctly.. say u copied it from another machine.. not gonna work.. what u can do, is make a shortcut of the setup.exe, copy the umod into the system folder of ut2k4, and add the following to the end of the shortcut: install Ballisticv170.ut4mod (or whatever the name of umod is) this info is on the Technical page under the Ballistic Weapons section here on our site:) |

Where is the computer? I see a lot of hardware in categories. But I can tell you, you'd spare a lot of money by buying AMD processors, not only are they much cheaper, but much faster. |

I think private messaging would be a convenient way to chat without needing to ruin threads. But yeah, create an upgrade thread to get further feedback from moi.
