Post subject:  A BW Story: Secondary Story Arc
Previously, Captain Xavious and Sargeant Kelly worked together on a mission on Demenix 2, until Kelly got the orders from the good doctor to wipe from existance the base and any witnesses. While Kelly followed his orders for the most part, he had a change of heart and let the RuneStorm team live.

Captain Xavious on the other hand doesn't reconize this as an act of friendship and not only doesn't trust Sargeant Kelly, he also wouldn't mind killing him.

Now, the mad Dr. Betruger has been conducting experiments as of late on a portal that happens to be a gate way to hell.

But he has been having some tests go wrong with his portal, men have been sent in the portal to retrieve specimens, but instead come back horribly mutilated. The occasional man who does come back physically intact has a tendency to not come back mentally intact.

So Betruger wants some of the best warriors to be his guinea pigs, someone who doesn't know the already spooked UAC workers, someone who won't cause further chaos if discovered dead. Sargeant Kelly enlists in the help of Xavious, finding him on a dead mining planet who had a fate not too dissimilar to what Mars may face.

Tension is still high between Kelly and Xavious, with the enlistment being at gun point. Clad in his centeries old mining armour, Xavious has little chance but to comply.

Now the two stand at the very gateway to hell. How could this possibly get any worse?

I looked around at the hellish land and smiled.

"I've seen worse."

well here i am remember my characters stalking you so your character is unaware of whats going on
i continued looking around and then i spoted a weapons Cache i opened it and found a load of goodness
i knew i could only carry three so i swaped in my m50 and replaced it with the UAC Minigun i then decided to also leave one of my am67s behind for one of those sentry drones, i then progamed it to follow me and attack on my order on the speciemens that float around here, im here to rescue not start a war

I continued to walk down the path, and the only thing i could smell was hellfire and brimstone. Then i noticed the two targets standing there talking, so i swiftly hid behind a collum and waited. Then i ordered my drone to follow them ( The drone would seem less conspicuous since it's U.A.C.)

Sergeant Kelly kept his gun raised at all times. This was not a place to take chances in.

"All right, since this is your first mission here, we'll just try and capture the little ones. Intel says to look for an 'Imp'. They stand about 6'2", have gray scaly skin and compound eyes. Should be easy."

- Later -

After about ten minutes of walking, Kelly stopped. He had been hearing a strange sound, something like multiple metal legs stamping the ground in symphony. Whipping around, Kelly pointed his pistol at the intruder.

A UAC Security Bot.

"What the hell?" Taking out his PDA, Kelly scanned the bot. "It says it's owned by a certain 'Darkonxy'...

It's on Recon mode right now. I'm going to switch it Defense and change its ownership to us."

Kelly pressed a few buttons until a beep sounded. A red light on the bot turned green. "There we go, it should follow us now. Make sure you keep it in sight, it's quite useful in combat."

And do I get one of those spiffy little UAC PDAs? Been on my wish list for a while. :P

Anyways, back to the story.

I checked my armour for the first time in decades. Most of the electronics are shot save for a few of the core things. The armour diagnostics seem to be mostly working, the air scrubbers displayed as functional, and the oxygen regulator appears to work, though it needs its tank replaced. And the hydraulics were only running at 64% efficiency.

"So what, he wants these things dead or something? Or do we get to go through the process of dragging one out alive?"

thank goodness i had the thing bugged its now my eyes and ears for them, my intentions are not to kill them they're vital to bringing down betruger they have info that can bring this project to a close, men aren't suppose to have access to such technology Martian equipment is very sensitive even to me or them, if they press one wrong button who knows what will happen and lets not forget the artifact that was buried here along with these hellish creatures, how would i know this because my skirth ancestors set fire to this planet, and whatevers in here can wipe out all life as i and them know it i heard somthing i turned around to find a huge creature hulking over me its scaly tan skin and red mouth sent a shiver down my mechanical spin, i reach for my Uac minigun but it just sniffed the air and walked away i checked my hud looking at the drone's camera
i sighed a sigh of relife they werent that far off nor near the ruins, thank goodness
oh if you don't know what i encounterd it wasn't a imp it was a Hellknight

"Personally, I'm aiming for dead. Who knows how strong these things are." Kelly tossed Xavious a PDA. "Here, take this. It'll let you interface with UAC equipment, store keys and send messages. Try and get a scan of one of these monsters."

Kelly ordered the UAC Security Bot forward. It scurried to the middle of a rock formation and stopped. "Fwoosh!" A large red fireball sailed through the air. The bot opened fire just before the projectile connected. Fire engulfed the mech as the culprit stepped from the shadows. Sparking a bit, the bot fell over and exploded.

The Imp was forming another fireball as Kelly cocked his pistol and pumped five rounds into the creature's forehead. It fell back a bit, yelping. Slamming a new clip into the gun, Kelly ordered Xavious to open fire.


OOC: Uhh... Darkonxy, since when was Mars owned by the Skrith? I think you gotta stick with the facts, bud.

"Thanks." I said after grabbing the PDA.

I put the PDA in a compartment on my waist. I'll have to see if I can link it with my armour later.

As I looked up from studying my PDA (which proved too difficult to use with my armoured hands) Kelly opened fire on some sort of hell spawn. From his description it looked like what we came for. After seeing it take five rounds to the face I took out my shotgun.

I fired shell after shell at the beast, taking a step forward each shot. After the third shot the demon fell.

"Think its dead?" I said as I took a closer look at the creature.

The creature suddenly raised its head and hissed in one final protest. I smashed its face with my fist.

"I think it's dead." I picked up the imp, as it's called, and threw it over my shoulder.

"Fssssshhhhh...."

As soon as Xavious hefted the carcass over its shoulder, the body started to burn away.

"Xav, put that down!"
Xavious complied.
"This is gonna be harder than I thought. Maybe if we get the body on ice.... You got any tranquilizer darts on you?"

Kelly kicked the dirt where the body had once been and headed back to the teleportation site. "There were some crates back here, maybe we'll find something useful.

I look at my shoulder after setting the body down. Smoke rose off my armour where the hellfire made contact.

I look back at the rapidly disintegrating body.

"Damn."

When we make it to the crates I look through the various equipment. I see nothing of immediate use in my initial scan; something else caught my eye: heavy chain used for binding the crates when they were transported here.

I pick up some lengths of chain and hold them up to Kelly. "Think these might be able to hold a demon down?"

what happened to the main story?

Why am i asking these questions?

(skip that last question)

Also i'm gonna update some rules

instead of using BW weapons, now any weapon can be used.

robots can survive bullets, not any thing else.

Well, the main story is still in the Main thread, this is just a side mission with just a few of the people running parallel to the main story arc. Overall it might not make a huge difference in the BW story, it's just a story that needs to be told.

As for chapters, no clue.

OOC: We should keep this thread for any future side-quests.

@Storm X: I've been using Doom 3 weapons the entire time. I don't think Kelly's used a BW weapon yet. :p


"Yeah, that chain looks like it'll hold. I'm going to find a better gun."

Kelly flipped open a large trunk labeled 'Weaponry'. Inside, a large steel shotgun rested. "UAC's best." Sergeant Kelly smiled as he picked up the familiar weapon. Before closing the box, Sergeant Kelly wrapped an ammo belt across his chest.

"Let's go."

I wrapped part of the chain around my fist and held the rest of the length in the other hand, letting the hook dangle down to my knees.

We walk past where the imp was, just a pile of dust remained.

"Looks like we need another one."

i continued and looked at my hud "Crap, the Security bots down looks like one of those imps took it out, so, i retraced it's tracker to find it, lying there smoking and its chassis scorched, "oh well nothing i can't fix" i told myself, a couple minutes later i patch the thing up, then i heard somthing then a gun cocking "hold it right there hands up were i can see them" Said the man i complied cooperatively, i put my hands up and stood up my cryon/skirth hands up in the air standing over the man and then i saw the mans Dogtags sticking out and they said Captain Xavious , Runestorm "how the hell did a thing like you get down here?!" he Groaned then he went to his radio and barked to Sgt. Kelly "Kelly... we got company, not imps" he reved up his chaingun and said "what are you doing here?" i then replied honestly "beturger sent me here to kill you and Kelly
but im not complying to his wishes, im helping you to help me"
"how can we trust you?" Xavious replied
"you can't , hes expeted me to kill you and kelly but i loaded my am67 with Stun rounds rigged with fake blood, i intended on you two to live to tell the tale of Betrugers dirty little secrets, he also has several cryon speciemens along with the one your bringing in hes doing somthing with them, and i don't know what he's up to, i can offer you my ship my weapons on it, all you need to do is get you and kelly out of here"
"hmm, you seem odd to be helping us, but i'll execpt your offer, no sudden moves and if you pull anything like backstabing us or leaving us here for dead, ill tear you a new @%^ with my chainsaw, Agreed?" "understood

Kelly watched the conversation from cover. "The secret stays here!" He yelled as he fired a shot at Darkonxy's skull.

"Bam! Bam! Bam!" Kelly fired three shots before ducking behind a barrier. "Xavious, get over here!"

"what the,sonofva" my helmet shattered upon impact my skirth head exposed, i knew he wished to work with betruger still, he didn't know he was a pawn in all of this and i replied as i took cover behind a coulum "Kelly you know as well as i do that he has access to everything in your life, i'm sorry thats its hard to believe but betruger order a hit on you and Xavious, if you don't believe me check your pda i wirelessly sent a recourding of him telling me everyting the orders , secrets and threating me if i don't wish to help him he'll use me in his experiments i stood out with my hands up, "im not unarmed ,and if you two can trust me i'll show you my origins i can explian why im helping you ask Xavious he knows, i just uploaded everything to his pda to, my body can get access to any machine wirelessly i don't wish to kill anybody im tired of the killing of humans, i found away to reedeem myself i want you to give a chance..." my sentance was interupted by a imp sneaking up on kelly but i knew if i wish to help them i have to push to the limits
them a voice in my head ringing again "they'll never accept you for who you are, even if you succeed in killing me all it'll do is make humans fear you even more"
i ingnored beturger's voice and opened fired on the imp and tore him to shreds with the miningun
Kelly flung back around to find the imp downed and not burning away "there is that enough proof betruger even uploaded the right spots to hit the speciemens it's Incapaicitated there, if you want to take it go on ahead im not stoping you but know this if i don't get back Betruger can always find another way to kill the both of you." "why are you doing this why dont you just kill us get over with it"
i said simply "if i told you, you wouldn't understand check my am67's ammo its stun rounds tipped with blooded splater pellets" i chucked the
gun to kelly he caught it and checked the ammo "hmm, odd for the likes of you to carry this type of ammo" "yes if i was going to kill wouldn't i have used the minigun on you?"
"very valid point, but again why are you helping us"
"check your PDA"
he glanced at his "how in the, you don't have pda on you now do you?"
"nope" "how is this possible"

I walked over to Kelly and put my pistol to his head. "Now tell me, what did you do with my team?"

Keeping my gun at his head I turned to DarkOnyx brought my shotgun to face him, "And what makes you think I even want to believe you?! You're the very essence of what I've been ordered to kill!"

Kelly looked at the PDA, it had been hacked. Luckily for him, the 'Loaned Inventory' tab had opened.

"Now before you shoot, Xavious, let me check Dark's facts."

Kelly quickly viewed the options.

Detonate PDA: Yes/No. Sergeant Kelly clicked yes.

Detonate UAC Chaingun: Yes/No. Sergeant Kelly clicked yes.

Detonate UAC Security Bot: Yes/No. Sergeant Kelly again clicked yes.

"F*** You." Kelly shouted before diving towards the ground.

The three explosions were devastating. The two enemies were thrown back by the force of the explosions.

Jumping back up, Kelly whipped out his pistol and aimed at Xavious' head. He was about to pull the trigger when a massive earthquake struck the ground. The shot went harmlessly into the dirt.

"What the hell..." Kelly noticed that the three were in the same rock formation as earlier. The ground was glowing a bloody red.

Then it hit him.

The rocks were arranged in a pentagram! Something big was coming!

i dove away from the explosion the heat beating my back i pulled out my am67 and trained it on kelly
"you backstabing..."
the pentagram activated and out came the hellknight in its splendor it turned to me and stared at me
it sniffed the air and then i heard another voice in my head "i'm not wishing to harm you but the human stench reeks of this place" it then turned around and roared at xavious and Kelly i understood what i had to do
i pulled out my Am67 and said "i'm sorry" i pulled the trigger of my Am67 turned the hellknight crashed to the floor
it ached in agony and replied "why?" i then said "i wish to protect them, im sorry but this is the way it is"
it crumpled on the floor in a heap and kelly and Xavious still pointed there guns at me and then at each other and then i shouted "enough! enough of this there is no point in fighting each other i wish to help you but you have to trust me although im the very essence of what your sworn to fight Xavious i to was once sworn to kill humans but i refused to when it came to slaughtering ones of the city unarmed, and vulnerable i refused to excute a child for that i was punished with this, i was betrayed by my comerades and my corpse was tossed into a Cryon conversion center"

Sergeant Kelly kept his weapons trained on the two. He didn't trust either. "Bam!" He fired one shot into the muzzle of Xavious' shotgun, wrecking it. "I'm going to call for backup, you two stay where you are."

Kelly looked down at the Imp that Darkonxy had wounded. The explosions had killed it. "Damn."

my hands still up in the air , besides take a look at the hellknight its still down not burning
kelly putting his gun down and looked quizicaly at me "okay what do you have in mind"
I smiled and replied "i go with you, stay behind me and i'll get this thing sorted out"
i pulled out my am67 and cocked it and pulled out the clip "still got stun rounds"

"I still don't trust you." Kelly pressed the radio tab on the PDA. "Betruger, you got any men? Send them down immediately! We got multiple hostiles!"

"No. ... C.. an.. do.. *fizzle* Come ba.. c.. via... auxil... *fizzle* *fizzle*"

"Damn it! The radio system back at the teleporter's been damaged! This was your doing, wasn't it." He glared at Darkonxy.

"no kelly, it wasn't check Xav's pda and try not to detonate this time"
"i was ordered by betruger to sabotage the radio why, because he wishes to have no witnesses when he expected me to kill you and Xavious"
"he somehow knows my every move like he has access to my mind 24/7 you know as well as i do that you've been to Demenix 2 once thats how you found me, betruger orderd you to recover a speciemen and you picked me"

OoC (Again): The only time Kelly's ever been to Demenix 2 was when he was teleported there. Xavious' PDA is broken, also.

"You just want to get out and tell Betruger's secret to the whole world." Kelly grabbed the AM67 that Darkonxy had fastened to the Security Bot. He fired two stunners at Xavious before ripping off the slide.

"You're coming with me, you're going to repair that radio." Kelly threw the defunct gun into the lava. "Don't make any sudden movements or my shotgun'll give you a new breathing hole."
