hi,

im rather unhappy with the bots, maybe there is some tweak to set things right.
i tried using custombots but they just seem to be unfit to survive, even on maxed out settings and godlike diffculty. the only effective weapon for them is the shotgun, since they are contantly moving to fast to take aim, sometimes even ignoring my presence. another point is that they are not able to use any of the new meleeweapons. such a shame; not everybody plays online... otherwise best weapon mod i came across...

any suggestions / know fixes / updates in sight? !mistrust

Maybe you are just a very good player. :) I agree that the bots need work, the mod is still in development so there is still room for improvements.

Improvement is a understatement for the bots meele abilities, still the mod is good and as long as i can jump hack a Skaarj in the face i'll be happy!

Somehow the bots often manage to kill me with a melee weapon. Maybe it is just because I can't see them quickly enough. :P

i have to correct myself a bit - they sometimes DO use melee. but when i tested a melee weapon arena on dm_compressed they just stared downwards and remained motionless.
i agree that the katana is *the* best modded meleeweapon i found so far (like it better than chaos ut), im keeping it for melee/goremut. im sure that it must be a very good onlinemod... maybe i can use it in a LAN one day. ill keep an eye on its progress...

Hi!! custombots?? the bots seem to work with all weapons.. they are not as good as can be.. but they can still kill u well on higher skills..

ok im sorry i got to correct myself once again:

1) bots work fine with melee it was indeed some conflict with another mutator. sorry, my bad.

2) bot overall functionallity is ok if you set recoil and inacc. to zero, so that they arent handycapped because of their constant movement! its not 100% as the mod was meant to be but at least you get challenging botmatches with cool weapons. otherwise they can be taken out very easily by crouching/camping somewhere and aiming carefully.

3) i must confirm that i DO have indeed insane skills since im playing 24/7 and inflict pain on myself whenever i fail. %-6

Yeah, bots have no idea how to use weapons with recoil and inaccuracy, they aim straight at you all the time.

And I never play UT2004 these days, Doom 3 has stolen all my time these days. :P

There are more games out there than UT2004. :P
I also play Chronicles of Riddick, System Shock 2, and many other games. I haven't launched UT2004 in weeks... :/

bjossi you got the expansion on that doom?...the double shotty in that is great.

and as far as other games...im playing GTA SA, and the Vampire the Masquerade series: bloodlines and redemption...old stuff i know but its good

on the topic of bots....i find them to be pretty fair game on godlike...although its my teamates that do me in more often than the enemy, ever since i got BW i decided it was better that i play with team damage on. i think thats what makes the difference

Age of Empires 1 was miles better. ;)

But on topic, I would say that the bots are pretty damn good, considering that they kick my ass on anything higher than Skilled difficulty.

they seem to be really accurate with RPG's eventhough i never see them use the lock on feature but it's not like they need to anyway.

on bot support though it would be nice if bots would know to stop shooting if you are in their direct line of fire or at least aim over your shoulder or something...but thats probably too much to ask for...i get killed by my own bots much more than i do by enemy bots

really off the wall idea here...what about making it so your team bots can disable your lasers on the explosives and rearm the laser after they have passed it? lots of ways that one could go wrong though...but its just something i thought of

what about human support for noobs? !lol ...jk...please don't tactical nuke me

i find them OK.. i know they need work, but they r not totally retarded! the main thing is how on lower skills, they just hold down fire.. they never hit u after the first few shots.. but on higher skills, they use bursts more.. we still need to tweak them somewaht..

how about our own BW bot.. call him the Archon! lot of code tho :)

Yes, decent bots are on our list of things to do... They actually handle recoil a lot better than they handle chaos. They tend to stopp shooting when their recoil gets too crazy, but its a bit harder to make them stop moving and actually aim... We want to though...

Making a super bot would be awesome, maybe have it as a side project and impress the UT community. Imagine if a bot uses strategies to beat the world's best UT2004 player, a bot made by RS.

We can dream. :D

It would be fairly easy to make a bot that can beat any player! Not to fun to play against it though... Easy to make them perfectly accurate, perfect dodging, always knowing exactly where you are and when your backs turned! Making a bot that acts human (mainly poorly) is the real test for bot makers...
