Was just wondering if anyone could give me a link to a download of the UT2k4 Mod Installer because in six pages of a google search not one site has a functioning download link.

Can't you just use the default setup program/extract the mod archive?

But if that mod installer has management feature as well, I might be interested in a link myself.

You should have said that you are using a Mac, because they can't run executables.

What sort of mods difficulty are you having anyways? Installing them? Running them?

Hmm... I guess I would say running them. I follow all the instructions and make sure the file extensions match to the originals in the folder, but sometimes the mods just don't work. I am pretty sure that most of the time it is me having troubles getting everything to the right place so I think an installer could really help.

I am a staff member at this Mac gaming site, you should check out the Macologist forums here.

In the ut2004 download section there are at least 2 mod installers and other mod utilities here. I prefer using the "Santa duck tool pack" for mutators and maps, and the "Spyro mod launcher for Total Conversions". If you have any questions about mac gaming, i'm the person to ask. :)

come by and check it out 8)

for installing mods......

control or right click the ut2004 app, choose "show package contents", the ut2004 folder should pop up. You will then see the sub folders in the ut2004 directory(this is where you drop TC folders or install mutator files).

".ukx" ---> animations folder
".utx" ----> textures folder
".usx" ----> static meshes folder
".uax" ----> sounds folder
".ogg" ----> music folder
".ut2" ----> maps folder
".ucl , .ini , .int. , etc" -----> system folder

If you try installing ballistic weapons using the .zip, it will most likely not work. the files have extra information attached to them like [animations/]ballistic....ukx or [system/]ballistic....int(etc). if you want to manually install the zip take off the [xxxxx/]ballistic.....(.int). i recommend using the santa duck tool pack for installing BW and other mutators that use the .ut4mod or umod file extension instead of the .zip.

again, use the santa duck tool pack to install .ut4mods or .umod files. (this means you dont have to do the manual install with the .zip file). The tool pack can also install folders/files as well.

hmm... can't seem to get any of the santa duck programs to work. Always get the error message "sort: open failed: +0: No such file or directory"

are you using the ut4mod or the .zip version of Ballistic weapons? you will use the "drop umod out" application to install the ".ut4mod or .umod".

has the tool pack located ut2004? do you have a ut2004 app support folder?(located: users/library/app support/ut2004)

If you are not the admin of the computer you might encounter some problems with using the santa duck tool pack, select ut2004 and hit "get info". Make sure any user can modify ut2004(change the permissions...)

I am using the drop umodout program on the ut4mod and I do have an app support folder for UT, I don't know where to check if it has located UT2004

well the first time u launch one of the apps it should ask u to locate it.

also, if there are any spaces in the ["filename"].ut4mod the file will not be installed. its a bug with the ut2004 engine supposedly. you might want to check out the read me.....

Can't get anything to work. Thanks for all the help, but I've been working on this problem since 10am, so going to stop messing around with this until my sanity returns :). Again thank you for your help.

no problem.
like i said, check out the read me for the Tool Pack, it might help you.

if it comes down to it, just use the .zip version(install it manually). i would just remove the extra file extension like i said before and the mod should work if the files are installed to their correct sub folders.

Are you the admin of your comp?

I thought macs had a windows compatibility program that eneabled a mac to run any windows software...

Apple does not sell or include windows software on computers. Mac's do have the ability to boot windows(XP, Vista, etc) natively though.

So blaze would have to purchase a copy of windows software and use the bootcamp assistant to install it on his hard drive. Booting windows is as easy as restarting the computer and holding down the "alt" key.

there are programs that allow windows files to be ran while in OSX, but im pretty sure you still need a copy of windows software or something.

Oh, that sounds like a real pain. I thought Apple came up with a practical solution. Oh well.
