Hello. After my UT2004 directories became very ♥♥♥♥♥ up, I decided I had to reinstall it all. So I trashed it, and re-downloaded BW 2.0 and 2.1, the Umod versions (Because the zip versions are kinda ♥♥♥♥♥ up.. atleast they are for me). I am running Mac OS 10.5.1 Since my Umod program goes weird when I want to install it in my Application Support, and I prefer not to do it in Ut2004 itself, I create an empty folder and make it extract the Umod there. Then, I move all the files from the BW System folder to System in Ut2004 Application support, and do the same for Sound, Textures etc. I also make the changes for the serverpackages although I don't really know what it does. I can play the game fine. But I can't seem to find the BW controls anymore! I can't configure them.. they are not in the 'Input' menu of Ut2004. It worked before I reinstalled Ut2004, so I probably did something wrong. Anyone knows what I am doing wrong? Or any fixes? --Edit: I just noticed I can't see the '0' weapons in the weapon GUI anymore either. |

Check whether the files youmoved aren't placed in a subfolder of the UT directory it could be that there is a problem with those files beiing placed in a sub-folder ( not sure though mon an expert in Mac OS) |

Nope, this is not the case. I would like to see this problem solved as BW is pretty much unusable now. |

it sounds like you moved or deleted something (a system file) from the correct folder.. check if you have Ballistic.int and Ballistic.ucl

:\ I have both those files, and they are in the system folder. This is kinda weird imo. Maybe they somehow became corrupted? |

Delete every BW related file from your UT2 installation and reinstall. If this happens again, then something is very wrong, probably a faulty install of the UT2 game itself. |

Yes so, the problem still exists. I don't know if it matters that I put the files in Application Support instead of the actual UT2004, but it shouldn't - it did fine before. |

Many problems people have had in the past were related to the umods, as soon as they used the zip versions, everything worked perfectly. Try the zips and see if you'll be one of the lucky ones. And by the way, the zip files are not ♥♥♥♥♥ up, not for mac users, not for windows users either. |

Well all the files in it were like that shown in my screenshot. I'd call that '♥♥♥♥♥ up'. If I can choose between an Umod that does the work for me, albit bugged, or being forced to rename loads of files , I'll choose the first one. But since you said it might work, I downloaded the zip as well and renamed some files already. I'll throw away the current stuff in my folders and I'll try again I guess.[br] |

Keep in mind that these zips were created with a Windows machine, Macs were never tested. From that screenshot it seems to me like the folder structure was recognized as a part of the filenames. Since slashes aren't allowed in filenames on Windows OSs, this would never happen there. Anyway, BW doesn't include many files, so it should take a matter of minute or two to rename them correctly. |

Okay, so used the files now of the zip (Trashed everything else that was in Application Support), and the problem still lives on. Any other ideas? ------------------ Okay, so after trying some random stuff, I decided to install the BW stuff in UT2004 itself. It now works again. Huzzah. |

What is Application Support? Isn't it common sense that you install all mod files to the main UT2004 directory, as explained in the readme? |

Application support is well.. a directory with subdirectories for files from programs. Since all the other stuff works normal when installed in the Application Support Ut2004 directory - atleast for me - , i didn't really think that that could've been the problem. It's easier to get to then having to "Show package contents' of Ut2004 program everytime you see. [br] |

He has a mac..... you dont want to install mods to your application support folder, that is a bad idea. some things get messed up and some things wont even work if you do that. for a start.... take the mods out of your app support folder, and make sure that no previous versions of BW are installed to UT2004(inside the package contents). if you wish, copy your "saves folder", i then recommend throwing your app support folder away. then, start up UT2004, configure your settings and quit. Now paste your saves folder back into the new app support folder. (install the mods in either the ut2004 directory or the content folders found in the ut2004 package contents) Download the Santa Duck Tool Pack, and make sure you have the BW2.0.umod (or w/e its called). Open the tool pack and choose the app "drop umod out", it will then ask you to find ut2004. do that and then select the BW2.0.umod. then hit skip viewing files, then extract to "ut2004". then download the BW2.1.umod and do the same. remember to extract to UT2004 NOT your ut2004 app support folder. if this doesnt work, make sure your UT2004 application is set to that every one can modify it(control click ut2004, get info, etc.). If it still doesnt work, it probably means you are not the admin of your computer. So if the .umod installation fails try this... put the BW2.0.umod into a new folder, then open the .umod with the "drop umod out" app. Choose "extract to same as source". then, manually install the files to your ut2004 package contents(control click ut2004, choose "show package contents, then install the files to the correct ut2004 content folder). the reason the .zip will not work correctly is because it holds extra info in the file name, just delete the xxxxxx/BWhardware.ukx. all of the files have their folder name infront of the file name, making it "easier" to install. So if you wish to use the .zip, just delete the extra info(such as "ANIMS/"BWhardware.ukx) from the x's to the back slash, delete all of that. There is a big ut2004 section at the mac site i am a staff member of, if you have questions about mac games go there. Macologist |

Like i said, it works again
Thanks for the support though. I'll remember now not to install that kind of stuff in Apl.Support again. I already have Santa Duck Tool pack btw. Again, thanks. |

*Looks at entire thread* Ah ok, so in a nutshell, remove excess filenames, but place files in respective folders? (I have a PowerPC Mac mini, so this was just what I needed, I hope ) P.S. As you've already heard a million times, it is definitely awesome when I played it (from another server) |
