With reference to the other thread...
I can see some of these being amazing in BW.

Shotgun Ammo Types:

May I also suggest Incinerating rounds, similiar to the ones in Unreal 2. Big Spread, high damage+it makes people run around covered in fiery flames=pure awesomeness

Explosive Shell: Essentially a small grenade or large firecracker, this simply blows the hell out of whatever it hits.

Magnesium Flare: Ignites a short time after being fired, blinding anyone that happens to be looking in its direction.

Dragon's Breath: A form of incindiary round, this shoots a large fireball, similar in effect to a quick burst from a flamethrower.

Flechette Rounds: Packed with flat, arrowhead-shaped metal blades, which absolutely destroy unprotected flesh at close range. Ineffective at range or against any kind of armor.

Electrodriver: Basically a battery tipped with a sticky pad (or sharp spike, depending on the desired level of lethality) and several pairs of electrodes, it stick to the target and delivers a nasty shock for several seconds.


Except for the Electrodriver, all of these rounds are entirely real, though rare, shotgun ammunition.

Called the eXtended Range Electronic Projectile, or XREP.

Slam shell. A slug made of memory metal. Once fired expose to air primes the metal for change. Once the metal comes in contact with moistute, [When it penatrates it's target] The slug expands into a star shape causing horrendous damage to the target. Note this type of slug is already in the late research process with working prototypes, but they are wayyyyy expensive.

There are limits after which you feel that there are too much things. And adding all these 'details' to the shotguns would be too much and you would feel that the other weapons are not as 'detailed'. However making some completly new weaopon which uses one of these ammunitions would be nice (dragon's breath :3). Anyway, slugs is the only thing I miss for shotguns.

Hm maybe we could have 1 extra type of ammunition for each shotgun. Don't know which though, sluggs for one, flamy for one but then I don't know what third type there would be which would be unique enough. :/

Me does not inlcue the mrt in my suggestions. >: P I hate it.

I agree with this completely, and I also want to bring up (again, I know) that the break-open grenade launcher would be a perfect candidate for this treatment.

The problem with the grenade things is that it would just be a powerfuls slug. Compared to other weapons, killing with 1 shot. (-,-), then we would ask ourselves what snipers are for, and standard slugs would feel tiny and boring. And it might make the gun too effective.

The same reason we have both a sniper rifle and a railgun; they are not the same thing.

Grenade slugs would probably be somewhere around a railgun blast in damage and without the charge time, but they would have a smaller clip size and no scope. They would be ineffective for sniping due to the lack of a scope, but would be a good alternative to grenade rounds or buckshot shells for accuracy or range, respectively.

Have some faith in RS, it will work just fine.

Edit: The railgun's huge blue trail gives you one shot before you start getting shot back at. The sniper rifle is actually stealthy, and also has a higher fire rate, and still kills in a single headshot or two body shots. It's just fine.

Slugs should have much worse accuracy too. :)

The railgun is powerful and the sniper rifle is not. If feels like the least effective weapon in the mod. :<
