Not sure if this one's a bug or just me either, so I'm making another thread. When I play BW on any of my computers, I get occasional but steady lags offline. I tinkered with graphics settings but they don't seem to be the problem. Here are specs for my laptop and desktop:
laptop: amd turion x2 1.6ghz, 1gb ram, geforce go 6100, windows xp sp2
desktop: dual core 1.8ghz, 2gb ram, radeon x1500, windows vista

Does anyone have this problem?

i belive its with the bw software it may lie in its code it may load slowly which cuases lag offline and i had the same problem before for some reasons i noticed certian weapons and weapon fx in bw load slow like pulling out a g5 may cuase ur game to lag for 1 second or its detonation may do the same

But it happens even without huge explosions, flame, etc.

1 GB memory might be the problem. Although it's more than enough for the game, BW does add many extra gameplay & graphical features.

But what about my desktop? It's got 2gb...

Oh, wait. Vista might be the problem...:(

Although Vista uses more memory by average, it runs (recent) games just as good or even better than in XP. But UT2? I don't know, to be honest. I've heard lag related problems when using the Geforce 8000 series of GPUs, but never Vista-related lags.

It's more than just a coincidence that the game lags on two vastly different computers. Out of curiosity, how big is your UT2004.log after a normal gameplay session?

I have noticed exceptional amounts of warnings/error type messages in my log lately when running ballistic.

here are the two most repedative messages...

Log: Skeleton_Alien Attachment not found for bone spine(shoulder head ect.) to Attach BG_StumpAlien
This one sucks up over half the log! x)

ScriptLog: Couldn't spawn player 'S}{^I){}W' of type BallisticV21.BallisticPawn at DM-Inferno.PlayerStart1
I hate this bug ~:(

The nature of the bug will determine if it causes a lag or not. Of course there is the performance decrease when the game writes to the log file, but it shouldn't have a noticable impact on fast computers.

For example I got an AI error because a weapon I selected for an Arena match wasn't working, so every time a bot wanted to shoot me it would make a log entry. I had a 120 MB file after 5 minutes of gameplay, but I didn't notice lag.

Anyway, I think DC should look into this. When one error/warning appears in a log file, it is one too many. :-/

No need to worry.

Believe me... On a lower preformence/Vista run computer like mine, this is not something to so,non-chalantly ignore.

I just realized I deleted ut2004 on laptop. :( And desktop doesn't have internet connection. I'll tell you about the log file on the desktop when I'm not tired. :p
