Hi, I'm new to the forums but I've been playing BW for years. It's the best mod I've ever seen for any game. If it were a game by itself, it might be the best game I've ever played. Anyway, I discovered a fun way to play, that's realistic but also fast-paced. It allows you to quickly move in and out of a crouching, sighted tactical stance and also allows you to move around in sights without holding down a button. Here's what you do: 1. In BCoreV21.u, change default sighting time from 0.8 to 0.3 2. In user.ini, make the following alias: (Command="Toggle bDuck|ScopeView",Alias="TacticalStance") and set C (or your usual crouch button) to TacticalStance. 3. Make the crosshair invisible Notice that the alias does NOT include OnRelease ScopeViewRelease. This means you can just tap C to go into Sights, without holding it down. So when you tap C, you crouch and sight at the same time. You can move around crouched just by using WASD, without holding down the crouch button (because crouch is toggled). When you tap C again, you stand up and go out of iron sights. Putting the SightingTime to 0.3 does it fast enough that you can run, drop into your tactical stance, fire, stand up and run somewhere else, pop back down into a tactical stance, quickly and easily. Turning off your crosshair lets you see more of the screen and necessitates using iron sights. It also gives you a reason to use laser sights! Try it out and see if you like it, I think it's great. |

While this may seen to be a great idea, DO NOT USE THIS IDEA WHEN PLAYING ONLINE. You'll get Server Package Mismatches for having a different Sighting Time than everyone else. Otherwise, bit of a cool idea. |

Thanks for pointing that out, OCAdam. Without the sightingtime reduction, it's still fun -- the "tactical stance" alias by itself does a lot to make shooting with the iron sights easier. Of course, if you turn off your crosshairs you'll be at a disadvantage online unless everyone else does it too. |

Good plan but how do you even access BCoreV21.u? |

"how do you access BCoreV21?" 1. Open start menu, Run, cmd to get to the command line 2. cd to ut2004/system 3. Type "ucc batchexport BCoreV21.u class .uc c:\ut2004\BCoreV21\Classes" (without quotes, may have to make the directory first) 4. The program will run and dump a bunch of .uc text files into that directory. 5. Open the newly dumped .uc file called "ballistic weapons.uc" with notepad 6. Search for "sightingtime," it's at the bottom of the document under "default properties" (I think) 7. Change the value of 0.8 to 0.3 and save the changes 8. now open up ut2004.ini in your ut2004/system directory. 9. Search for a long list of lines saying "editpackages=" 10. after the last editpackages line, insert another line saying "editpackages=BCoreV21". This tells UCC that if it doesn't find a copy of that .u file, it should compile a new version from the .uc text files in the appropriate directory. 11. go to ut2004/system and move BCoreV21.u out of the directory (into a backup directory or something) 11. Go back to the command line, c:\ut2004\system 12. Type "ucc make" and the program will recompile BCoreV21 and place the recompiled copy in ut2004/system 13. Run the game and you should see the effects! |

Alternatively, and MUCH better, you can get the WOTgreal software that allows you to view the code with all the colors for each certain bit of code. To uncompile easier, you can get the StuffImporter2 and use the Uncompile to UC Code function in one of the top menus. Edit: http://www.moddb.com/mods/2620/stuffswapper This is the link to the ModDB page for the little program. It's included with the StuffSwapper, but it's the main show IMO. |

I found something else that affects SightingTime changes as well, maybe you guys already know it . . . If you reload or attach a silencer while in Sights, your sightingtime will return to the old value and remain that way until you drop your weapon and pick it up again. This is because SightingTime is being set equal to NewSightingTime, which is the old value, or close to it. You can fix this by going into BCoreV21/ballistic weapon and finding the lines that say if NewSightingTime > 0.0, SightingTime = NewSightingTime. Change both instances of "SightingTime = NewSightingTime" to "SightingTime = x", where x is your preferred sightingtime. |

Nah, sounds compilcated. I dont want to screw up Bcore. I would rather have somebody make a mutator or something like that for everyone to download. |

It'll actually revert them to 0.5 seconds. You can also easily comment out those two lines by adding // in front of them. It'll make the code not work without completely deleting them, which is useful if you think you may have to change them back. |

I'm not that nerdy with computers and editing coded files and crap (I'm only in middle school). |

It's not being nerdy, it's just knowing what to do. Hate to say this, but you'll understand when you're older. |
