I don´t think it is possible to do that without increasing the filesize dramatically.
If you get lag on lowest settings in a low-spec game like UT2004, doesn´t that mean it´s time to upgrade?

why is it that i can only turn down the ballistic effects but not the the gun detail? this is causing me major unwanted lag. i have ALL detail options on "lowest" and every thing else on low and i am getting still some lag. with every thing else looking like s*** the gun models are still at a high quality even though i turned the detail down. it just really annoys me. the effects go down but not the quality of the guns making the game look really bad (player skins, world textures, effects, ect.) and plus a bit of lag. yes i dont have the best computer (it runs ut2004 fine for god's sake.)but it shouldn't be like this, its just down right annoying! could it be made so that the gun models quality could be changed along with the detail? |

Ok.. maybe its another MAC bug, but turning down character detail should turn down the weapon skin detail.. it does here. you could change it in the advanced options from UnrealEd if you're desperate:) for the new version to be released soon, we have lowered texture sizes for almost all the guns, so that should help.. |

UnrealEd is a shortcut for Unreal Editor. You use it to script, make levels and just any custom content. I have no idea how it works though. |

dude, there are other mac players out there besides me. i get a PC, some guy gets a mac. in ut2004 i am able to change the settings to my liking (even with other mods). but BW's guns skins are weird, they just wont change quality! i guess there is no unrealED for mac............. |

Yes, and you seem to be the only Mac player having lag issues that we know of. But you shouldn´t listen to me since I´m a Windows user. And I think very practically. I look at minority groups like Mac players as a lowest priority. So when the mod is perfected and nothing new planned in the future, then RS could start to make a special Mac-patch. |

you see, it doesn't really help that i cant change the quality of the guns and my computer isn't that fast. macs make up 3% of the computers thus making us MORE special and unique

There really shouldn't be any difference between MAC and PC versions, I'm sure the engine will keep the "output" the same, but there will be differences in the way the engine does it, possibly, due to different hardware/processor and OS. BUT, I do know that BW was developed on some VERY low end PC's (we're talking P1/P2's), with the highest spec PC was for a long time a Celeron 1.1Ghz!! That has improved slightly now

my comp only has 1Ghz! this isn't a gaming comp but should be able to do handle most modern (not games like doom3) games (barely). |

No it shouldn´t, 1 billion clock cycles per second just isn´t enough, even for old games like UT2004. I have a 2.8 Ghz P4, and I run the game on max settings 1024 x 768 and I never see slowdowns unless I play ONS with a lot of bots. Don´t Macs have 2.8 Ghz nowdays? |

Save us trouble??? SAve YOURSELF lots of trouble too, it would seem...
Well, this thing has run on very low PCs... (P2 333, 96MB RAM, geForce 2) That was with everything on min. It was playable.(Then again, not everyone considers the same speed as playable...) Also that was only really in MP and with very few bots if any... The new Monster PC can run the game on full everything with 30+ bots in multiplayer...

ok, how many times do i have to say this??????? i run ut2004 on normal settings and a good amount of bots. i never get lag or slow down. i play F-O and dont ge lag either, i play R-O and dont get lag. theres something about this mod OK???!!!!! i dont use my computer for only gaming so i am not gonna trash it and go get a new one. my next computer will be a Imac with 1.9Ghz with a good graphics card on a intel processor. so no I am not getting a FRIGGEN PC! |

You only get slowdowns in BW? Sounds strange, because I don´t. A Mac is a PC, just different operating system and possibly different hardware. And it is your choice to get a computer with lack of compability with games, but don´t put that weight on RS. RuneStorm: You guys should put up a donation on the website, for a new monster PC you can use to develop the mod both faster and easier, and in more quality.

I strongly recommend Windows for gaming, if you are rich you could get a Mac for office work and a Windows PC for gaming.

About BW and its performance: UT2004 came out back in 2004... duh! BUT it is little different from UT2003 which came out at the end of 2002!!! BW is newer. We aimed to have it look decent, like thr kind of cames that were around at the time it came out... Don't expect BW to be as fast as UT2004. Just as Doom3 and Quake4 and HL2 and even wolfenstein3d(199?) are not as fast as things that came out 2 years before them! |
