Post subject:  LAN game help BW
Yeah, so I want to play a LAN game at my home with my brother with the ballistic weapons..
But when I start the game (my brother starts it), and when I join that game,
the loadingtime is like forever :o ..
All I see when I join is a black screen and everything it wants to download..
Like 'BallisticWeapons', 'BallisticHardware', etc..
When it downloads the percentage goes from 0.1% to 0.2% in 2-5 sec.
So it takes a looong time when something is downloaded,
now I have already let it a couple of things download, but it takes to long,
so I want to ask if somebody knows the solution for this problem..

And yes, in my folder of UT2004 the files are already there..

Does anyone have the same problem, because I really want to play with these weapons against family members..

First thing i thought was wrong file location, but yeh you said that.

Is there a way in the Options to turn off Auto Downloading? Try turning that off if you find it?

nope, I didn't find such an option..
but I have tried that, I had changed in the .ini file from ut that it won't allow downloads, but then I got the error that the download was not allow and that I can't play the game because I don't have the files...

do you know any other things I could try :? ?


p.s.: after I changed that .ini file, I set it back as normal, so I changed that it allowed the downloads.. It is by default now..

I had the same problem with UT99 (took an hour to get into the game).
Make sure that both computers have exactly the same mods and it should work...

yeah, the problem is that I know that we both have the same files, I have installed them on both computers and a few days ago I have copied all the files from the UT folder from his computer to mine computer.. So I'm pretty sure that we both have the same files :p
And when he hosts a game, no mods are selected, and when you join a game you don't have to select mods...

Are all the relevant BW packages listed under Server/Edit packages in your UT2004.ini file? I'm not much of an unreal god but I have heard of problems solved by adding them to the file.

Yeah, last time I had a LAN party I had to make sure the EditPackages and ServerPackages were filled out with all the BW ones.

I copy and pasted just like you did but did not get loading issues.

I almost thought it was fixed.
because I had the packages with the ServerPackages, but not with those EditPackages..
So I tried, but when I start the game the same problem keeps coming, it starts to download again..

You seem to have multiple versions of Ballistic in there. Remove everything except the bonus packs with V21 on the end and "BallisticV21", "BCoreV21", and the two BWBPFour packages.

Also, EditPackages is only for modding and mapping if I remember correctly.
