I don't know if this has been covered before (since I don't know the search terms to even start looking) but I have some very odd rendering/texture problems with bullet hit effects.

It all started about four or so months ago, I was happily playing along and suddenly I shot a grenade from my M50 into the water in DM-Masarao (sp?). I always liked the splash effect. But to my dismay, instead of water, I got a very ugly green triangle like... thing. Then I started to notice when bullets would hit concrete-like walls, the normal particle effects would show, and the hole itself, but triangles, usually green, would also appear! Those darned triangles were my bane, and eventually stopped me from playing BW. I was very sad, to say the least. So I kept blood and played normal weapons, and my driver eventually crashed and I stopped playing all together.

Fast-forward to now. I reinstalled UT2k4 with the sole purpose of playing BW. It was great, no weird colors, everything was fine. Then just yesterday, to my horror, the weirded out effects came back! So this time I came prepared with screenshots! 8) In them, you can see the weird colors (a magenta/purple color this time)

P.S. I love the mod, adds all new life, and I can't believe my first post is of complaining! ::)

Thats could be that some textures are non existant or something is realy bad.

But interestingly, when i tried to compile BW source code without changes to it (the code from the basic coding tutorial, and also, from exporrt from the .u files itselves), it just wouldn't recompile, and the compiler complained about some mesh and sprite emitters in the files where some effects regarding Bullet hitting Concrete were declared. (i removed some effects and one other thing wich disabled some "thing" :P, and then it compiled fine (tough, not so impressive hit effects were noticed).

However, i haven't got such problem before (but im realy new to BW).

I assume your UT is patched for 3369, You placed all the ServerPackage="BallisticV21(/BCoreV21/BWBPV4 or something like this [ you just add all the u files names without .u extension into ut2004.ini preceding all of them with ServerPackage= just like it is with outher packages]). I also installed ECE V1.1 i belive for ut, touggh i don't know if that realy makes a difference

Video driver issues would be my first guess, you are playing a Windows application on a non-native operating system. But you won't find many Linux users around here I am afraid.

By the way, you really need to get a new GPU. . .

@mzoltan: I believe the mod would not appear in-game at all if there were missing packages. UT2 would print complaints into the log file instead.

Yeah, I'm going to go with Bjossi here and say it might be your graphics card or your drivers. If you're unable to get a new card or something, I would suggest turning your effect details to low. That should remove the triangles.

Thanks for the replies! Unfortunately, I was afraid you were going to say that.... But before I get a new graphics card (I have been eyeing one from a year ago that should work perfectly...) I need to get one of them so called 'yobs' everyone seems to be gettin g! But who wants someone who just graduated high school a month ago? Hehe...

Thanks again for the replies! I will try to do with what I have, low detail effects here I come! Btw, I love your bonus packs Sgt. Kelly, they are first class, as are fisches and Jack-Carvers, heck the whole BW is great....

Now onto the hunt for a job....

Actually, when i forgot to update the ut2004.ini on another machine where i installed BW, it ran just fine :) (that is, none of the bw packages were in ServerPackage= lines, and i ran it on listen server; though on dedicated server and for other people who joined a listen server, some of the weapons didn't apear, but some did [however BW vehicles didn't work, just after i installed ECE v1.1, then])

I was talking about packages, as in, the actual files that construct any given add-on for the game. And besides, the process you describe is not at all necessary to make stuff appear in-game.

Just for clarification, ServerPackages are only required for online play. You won't need to ever open your UT2004.ini file unless you're modding the game or setting up servers.
