Hi! Ive installed BW v2.5 now i often get an error like this: UT2004 Build UT2004_Build_[2005-11-23_16.22] OS: Windows NT 6.1 (Build: 7600) CPU: GenuineIntel PentiumPro-class processor @ 2406 MHz with 2047MB RAM Video: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT (6658) IDirect3DVertexBuffer8::Lock failed(80004005). History: FD3DVertexStream::Cache <- FD3DRenderInterface::SetVertexStreams <- USkeletalMeshInstance::Render <- FDynamicActor::Render <- FDynamicActor::Render <- RenderLevel <- DM-2019-XS-2006.myLevel <- FLevelSceneNode::Render <- FPlayerSceneNode::Render <- UGameEngine::Draw <- UWindowsViewport::Repaint <- UWindowsClient::Tick <- ClientTick <- UGameEngine::Tick <- Level Untitled <- UpdateWorld <- MainLoop <- FMallocWindows::Free <- FMallocWindows::Realloc <- 10910191 0 FArray <- FArray::Realloc <- 0*2 <- FMallocWindows::Free If this is not because of BW, what could be the problem? |

Reinstall video card drivers. Ensure any other applications which may be using 3d capabilities are closed while playing Unreal. Reverse any overclocking or graphics cards tweaks that you may have done. Check graphics card temps. Ensure your installation is not corrupt. |

From a cold start up how long dose it take, and dose it get worse the longer you play. Also try toning down the graphics in the game. |

Máté wrote: UT3 Also freezes with The Crucible. UT3 does something called shader caching, if it looks 'Frozen' while running The Crucible for the first time, it is busy doing this, and must be left for an hour or more to complete.. We have been unable to find a way around this, and I don't think there is one, it does that with all custom content... That is likely the issue, so try leaving it and then see what it does.. |

The previous version also did that, its done, it freezes while playing, i think mostly when the rocket launcher is uset on someone. |

Hmmm, could be the explosion gore needs caching too, that shouldn't take long, although I've never seen it happen during a match... Other than that I'm not sure...

You said freeze before, so I figured you didn't mean crashing... If it is crashing then it's obviously nothing to do with caching, what does the Log file say?, that will reveal the issue... Anyone else had such an incident?

I dont want to reinstall UT2k4, so i try to find out whats the problem there, and will write if i can get it work. edit: OK, UT3 works after reinstalling, now i just have to get ut 2k4 to work. |

Black Eagle wrote: You've tried the new BW in more than one map right? I think i fixed it, it seems some lines were missing from UT2004.ini. Somewhwre around: bAllowNonTeamChat=False NetWait=5 bAdjustSkill=False bAllowTrans=False SpawnProtectionTime=2.000000 LateEntryLives=1 LoginMenuClass=GUI2K4.UT2K4PlayerLoginMenu bAllowPrivateChat=True bAllowWeaponThrowing=True ResetTimeDelay=0 I dont know if it was because of BW. |

Those lines are not related to BW at all, and I can't imagine why their absence would cause a crash. |
