Bunch of particles to still do after these gibs are complete, which should round it off nicely. But these goddamn leg bones and their accompaning SkeletalControllers are not making life easy. As BE said, if they can't be fixed, there won't be leg stumps...

But you guys have full, unrestricted access to the engine right? Couldn't DC write a hack in the worst case scenario to allow something "unorthodox"?

Oh that would really suck if all this hard work and beautiful gore had to get scraped because of censorship

That would be a real shame Sensorship is kills art like this; just because some people that doesn't understand anything about video games wants to, because they thinks they are "the judges of the good thinking"

Most of us are safe. The Germans are the only ones who have any reason to be worried. The US is kind of an oddball, only popular politically promoted games get censored, remember the GTA: San Andreas fiasco? It got the treatment/rating and attention solely because of promotion by politics. Then again, if Crucible becomes known for its violence and gore to get the same attention, Runestorm would certainly be put on the map worldwide (and not in a negative way).

And yes, censorship is terrible, but not quite as bad as political correctness. Not even satan has a stomach for something evil and stupid of that caliber.

Well the gore is fantastic. But it also has fantastic content.

Aaahh, but we do not. The UDK does not allow you to edit anything engine related. It's not as "open" as you think

You basically get a UT3, with new features and without the UT3 part You get all the tools, and can change just about (or actually) everything to do with the game, but to edit the engine, you'll still need to talk licensing with Epic..

I don't know but does the id tech engines for example allows developers to edit its code ? if we take the engine for free like when people takes the UDK

Would that there were a straight forward way to deal with these kind of bugs!. There never is, sometimes the legs work, about 80% of the time. But that 20% ruins everything..

And i can't figure out WHY!, running various 'Update' functions dont cure it, in the code it thinks that it is scaled down, but the visuals don't reflect that, it's some internal crap, or bad SkeletalController definitions.. The last thing i can try is redoing the entire AnimTree we made a while back.. I hope that works!..

Anyway, the gibs are looking nice, but arn't all working, so we need to make various modifications until we can show you something..

I have just finished a little extra feature for The Crucible, i've done away with a loading move(Screen Displayed while loading a map from the main-menu). And replaced it with a scene which shows a fullscreen image of the map being loaded in the background, and various boxes with a description of the selected game and map, aswell as a hints box, a player count display, and some nice Crucible Title Text..

I'm also thinking of adding a "Mods" menu to the main-menu, allowing you to initialize various Mods and re-load the game, causing the game to run with a specific mod, which you can change between using the menu again.. Mods may be able to adjust the map loaded when initialized, or the UIScene loaded upon being initialized...

It would add another dimension to Mod support, but we'll see.. In the meantime we're working on getting stuff operational enough to give you some more pics..

Anyway, what's this about restricted engine access? Sounds like they're trying to pass it off as new and fresh but really you get the same old shit you did with UT3. And I suppose licensing it is out of the question, seeing as I hear the cost is more than a quarter of the total prize fund of the MSU.

Okay, we've hit a snag and b the looks of it , its a big one so if we ask epic nicely they'll probably say yes the only thing that counts is DONT GIVE UP a massive goal always results in massive problems but you must pull through and dont ask for a godsend because you guys are gods!! so my best guess is to e-mail epic and see what they say need any help money etc we'll be there

P.S the crucible is a massive project and by the looks of it, its going to be awesome but like i said big projects result in big problems but im sure and confident down to my last bone tha you guys can do it!!

Well we don't really need to ask Epic for anything.. I'm sure most people will manage just fine with what the UDK offers Of course, it does appear to be an engine suited especially for FPS's and licensing..

Working my way through the gibs slowy, just finished Crusader.

I know you guys can do it but one thing if you ever become a game company dont joi with anyone like epic or ea be independant people will know you better i've already told loads of people about the crucible and how much it rocks!!

Wait, you're doing different effects for each character?

Or maybe per-character gibs/limbs, if you dismember character A it wouldn't make much sense to see the limb of character B.

Anyway, yes. Different chars will have different gibs But i'm not going into even more specifics, such as Savior Char B gibs. They will be per family, eg Zombie, Skeleton, Crusader, Savior, Hel. So 5 alternate gib sets Un fortunately, i'm not certain about the Gargoyle yet.. I need to ask Davision a few things first

Yes, being a game, many many!, if you're looking for an easy career choice, don't choose Games Development, especially the way we planned.

It sure ain't for the faint of heart if you want to get somewhere really successfull..

As for the game, it needs an entire overhaul before it's actually what The Crucible was meant to be..

But for now we march onward, until we have things properly on track...
