So we all know UT3 is going around the drain slowly, I was told 400 just play. Crucible has hardly gotten started & I would love to play it, but that seems to be wishful thinking.

Well, considering that UT3's engine was released for free, it seems like going commercial with Crucible is an entirely realistic possibility, thus nulling any future need for UT3, I'd say.

Well, UT may be going down the drain... but that doesn't mean the engine is....there are a lot of commercial games being released on various platforms using the UE3.

The fact is that engine is now available to RS at a very reasonable price, and makes the commercial route a very viable option.
This will let RS make the game they want, as it is no longer limited to end customers having UT3, and also removes a lot of restrictions imposed by UT3. The end result is a full game made with the same loving attention RS has given their mods!

Epic is refocusing their efforts...in the process they have allowed people like RS to do the same by eliminating the need for UT3. So if UT3 does go down the drain (and I fear it will, it has gone on for far too long and it is simply missing that attractiveness), I foresee a future for RS beyond Crucible...who knows Crucible might evolve beyond UT3 into something else own its own 8)

Sadly, we will have to wait and see what the devs have for the future. In the mean time we eagerly wait the next release of the Crucible (and yes, it is very very close) so we have something to play for the Christmas holidays :D

Tried that, Not enough Interest.....Online player numbers are at an ALL time low...Thankfully I have a lot of people that still enjoy the game and The Mods/Maps that Hedsteem makes to keep our community alive....I'd consider maybe trying another Crucible Server In the future providing all my concerns with online play and the bugs I reported are Squashed.

I do have to say, that mod on the server now is some good fun. I love the arena maps.

UT3 is quite a good game if you give it a chance, but many won't. It's good that they've released the UDK. I want to be able to walk into GAME one day and find a copy of 'The Crucible'. I say this because I found a copy of Red Orchestra (the 2k4 mod gone retail) in my high street, IN ENGLAND. How awesome?

I'd say I've set you a goal. Ditch UT3, I want to see some box art.

Nope...Crucible Weapons do Little or No Damage to Vehicles Online With VCTF/WAR so therefore you wont see any of those Servers around, possibly any game type without Vehicles in it generally will work. I do like the RoadRage Gametype quite funny, I have already told the Whole DEV Team that I need configurable damage for the weapons but I have yet to see it.

Nah, I dont think so. With Xav and co working on patches for Crucible, its going to continue. Plus with this community they can always get new ideas from what people are posting, modify that, and then input it into Crucible. That mod has so much potential. It'll just take time and a little bit of marketing on digg, reddit, stumbleupon, etc. Also market the mod to other Unreal forums and this mod will be around for a while :)

i honestly and alot of people are going to want to kill me for this prefer ut2004 than ut3 because ut2004 is a game with ragdoll physics and you can shoot certain body pats off but with ut3 they either die normally or die by being mangled to bits so ut2004 :romance-hearteyes:

That would be a huge waste of time given that Crucible can now become a stand-alone game.

The Crucible is not finished.. We plan on adding alot more too it to make it more of everything good :) With any luck, we'll be getting a broadband line one of these days, and then we can finally test out everything ONLINE!!

Wup. Config damage is on the list.. There were higher priority things for the MSU phases though.. That has gone now, so we can do all the things that are'nt linked to some category or another now :)

We'll all see how it develops ;)

Glad to Hear SB...If I have control Over the Weapon's Damage then I can tailor it to Hedsteem.

Thanks a Bunch!

If you guys released a stand alone Crucible, I would buy/download it. Just please, don't console it up like UT3 is, we want PC menus

If they made it into a stand alone game who wouldn't get it?
