I also have this problem
and another is that some settings (post prossesing, input, contorls) are not saved when you quit.

I can't play UT3 so I have no idea what is going on with yours. I say try reinstalling UT3 or get rid of all the mods you have then reinstalling those.

I recommend trying the mod option first.

For starters, delete everything from RuneStorm in the stock UTGame folder, along with the Crucible folder, then try running the game.

If that doesn't work, delete your Unreal Tournament 3 folder from My Documents (you should make a backup first though) and try running the game.

Also please keep in mind that the first time you run any TC for UT3 you will experience a long hangup as the files all precache.

Anyways, at this point UT3 should definitely be running. If not? Reinstall UT3 and reapply all the patches.

Once that is done, run the installer to Crucible and do not install the older files from RuneStorm. Make sure that works. If so, then its probably safe to install the non-Crucible mods in your UT3 folder (this would mean the characters and BW weapon pack).

I am having the exact same problem. Ever since I installed The Crucible, UT3 no longer works. It can start up and everything, but it can't load maps anymore. On starting a match, it loads for about 2 seconds, then it freezes for about a second, then appears to resume loading the map. But it never finishes. It just stays on the loading screen forever. And the really curious thing is that The Crucible itself runs just fine. It just happens to break the original game :(

I've tried deleting everything Runestorm related manually. That made no difference. I have now uninstalled the game completely and deleted the UT3 folder in My Documents. I am in the process of reinstalling the game, only this time, I won't be installing The Crucible. At least not until this issue has been adressed.

Oh, this is prob. why the maps never load, ok I will unistall crucible. I did install it, then this started.

The mysteries of UT3's file system showing through again... This is not some kinda quick fix from what i can see.. We'll need to do some investigating to find how to get around the problem..

I had a similar problem. Once I install crucible, I could no longer view or edit a custom character. Couldn't even after uninstalling Cx. and all related folders. Had to reinstall UT3 from scratch just to look at my avatar again.

You guys didn't package The Crucible right. Everything needs to be in the CxGame folder.

Currently it's like this

CxGame
UTGame (contains Published/Runestorm folder)

You must move that Published/Runestorm folder to CxGame then it's a propper TC.

To get vanilla UT3 working again you must delete you customchar.ini in the config folder.
UT3 will then create a new one.

Yeah both work, but crucible characters unavailabe in vanilla then.
You will to have two copies of the runestorm folder for that to work. One in UtGame and one in CxGame.

You'll get this annoying message though.
