I was wondering if 3d Scopes are possibly going to be in the final version of the Crucible? Or even if they can be made in UDK? If you dont know what i mean, Imaging looking down an ACOG, but only the lens is zoomed in, not the whole screen. |

Uhhh.. I'm not sure on that.. Not sure at all.. Have you seen this in anything as an example i can check out? But it doesn't sound like it's worth the effort so far. Depends on what i found out, but i'm not spending much time researching this |

Yep. DC looked over your idea and suggested the only way would be to use the method like our M50 camera on the gun. You will halve your frame-rate. We could make one of the views update slower than the other to gain a few frames, but that would look shit in the context. It unfortunately, doesn't seem worth it so far |

By the way, this has been done many times in Source. Both the mods Insurgency and Smod have coded it up. Usually not an issue with framerates because their code is rather complex and coded in a way to not rely on secondary cameras. The ones in Smod do have a disturbing tendency to overload the game's engine though. |

You should probably look to red orchestra's version (RO Heroes of stalingrad), because it's highly similar and doesn't seem to have problems with the framerate. But yeah it depends a lot on the coding though ... |

This is not technically difficult to do and any halfway civilized engine should be able to do it. It can be done in Unreal without much trouble. The only problem with this feature is that it will just about double the render frame time. So either you have half the frame rate or the game has to have less stuff in the scene. This is something which your game has to be designed around right from the start because it will affect just about everything. It just doesn't add enough value to a game to make it worth the trouble and the handicap. This feature works great in games (old games) that aren't already using every resource the machine has. |
