Hmmm, right now, I don't have a very high opinion of MMOs. Perhaps you can convince me otherwise; what merits do they have, in your opinion?
Why would Cx be better as an MMO than as a straight multi-player or co-op shooter? Why would any game?

One large world instead of many maps & not sure about MMOFPSs but MMORPGs have permanent changes as for the player effecting the world.

I think DC knows what an MMOFPS is...
Why would a persistant world even make sense or be any better for Crucible than what it currently has...?

I think you'll find it would weaken the game's outcome, and wouldn't fit well with it's focus. :(

Might work better in a Day Z environment than an MMO(if that's what you meant), but MMOs with massive numbers of players in a huge world and opposing factions?, that would greatly weaken the game's overall approach.

What exactly do you envision from an MMO point of view?. There are many kinds, very few of which work well at all as good games.

I saw in my head a giant map, the only map, with different subarea. Like if Cypress coast could have 200, 300 people fighting on either side each. That'd sure make for an interesting battle.

Only then you'd have to re-fit the game's entire network code structure to allow massive numbers of players doing things, thus trimming away most of the complex features and leaving you with watered down limp fish of a game... :(

At least that's my impression of the MMO design flaw, there are exceptions I suppose. :D

i honestly know nothing about coding and the like, but couldn't one just limit effects to a little sub-area around you? Say... 200 yards out or so (random number) the game doesn't track effects that come toward you?

Most MMO's now I know of (haven't played a fps) have a max range for stuff to happen, usually the fog of war if you will.

Well you could, but think how ugly that would be if in Road Rage maps you could only see vehicles and things happening when they get close.. :(

To a large degree one needs to trim the game so much just for it to work as an MMO, besides that, does it make sense anyway?..

At least, that's my take on it.. :)

Well, close is relative, in my head it'd be about the distance the ... the... artillery vehicle can shoot. SMPA? Yeah. It's not like it doesn't happen, just doesn't load/show on your screen until you get within range. Stuff like proximity mines won't appear until that magic distance number.

Maybe MMO isn't the right term, as it would involve a persistent world (Which would be AWSUM) but rather just allow for more than 30 people or so. (Involver is not a word. lol)

Wait wait wait. Are you talking about making Crucible an MMO or specifically Road Rage? There is a pretty big difference here; Crucible is an Arena style Shooter with a fantasy theme and a strong focus on melee mixed with guns, plus an awesome movement system.

Road Rage on the other hand, isn't really connected to Crucible in many ways other than the fact that they share weapons.

Road Rage with larger maps and increased player count would be something awesome to see.

Um. I don't know. I'd LOVE to see 300 people on a single road rage map, but... the crucible as a whole would be neat. Maybe not MMO per se, but something that can support more than 30 people.

Cypress coast is plenty big. Just add more people. :o

Come to think of it, as is Crucible couldn't work as an mmofps. Not unless they added perks or some kind of talent trees or level up system to characters or the guns. As an mmo it'd get pretty stale on it's own.

Hm. perks for guns. There's an intriguing thought.

I personally better see the crucible as a free to play game than an MMO
But it depends if you know something about that kind of business model.
the good thing about that is you can complement the game and win money during the same time.
Crucible is an arena game and there is plenty of games today with the free to play business model.
