Sweet. On an unrelated note, after looking at your name on the RS forums for so long, the correct spelling of "sergeant" looks so wrong to me now. I'm not sure about the nomenclature though. I thought medium machine guns were supposed to be big, heavy things with bipods. This looks more like a "light" to me. |

Most support weapons have bipods of some sort, i didnt care to much for the ways the bipods worked in BW so i just decided not to put one on. The weapon fires the 7.92x57mm cartridge (8mm mauser for some people) same round used in the mg34 and mg42 (with spectacular results) Due to this larger caliber and faster cyclic rate the barrel has been "beefed up" compared to the other models to reduce the wear and tear on the weapon. The extra pistol grip was also added to increase the control over the weapon when used in full auto, also a rather efficient muzzle brake was added as well. the magazine is a belt fed type that holds 65 rounds of the ammunition, the weapon does have a tendancy to "runaway" a problem that plagued the first m60 models, where after the trigger was released the weapon would continue to fire, the only way to cure the m60 of the problem was to grab hold of the belt and twist it so to stop he feed of ammo into the weapon, with the ak214 the only way to stop it is to turn on the safety (this weapon would not work IRL so im just trying to think of thigns that would work with a fake gun) kaboodles, your thinking of heavy machineguns. Im not even sure that there is a medium machinegun class, just figured since it looks like a light machine gun but fires a rather large round i would classify it as medium. |

Heavy machineguns are things like the M2 Browning, or whatever needs more than a simple bipod to operate correctly. Huge things that you mount on a tripod or vehicle, and need a crew to operate. Light machineguns are lighter, more compact weapons that only need one man to carry and use, and usually fire small calibers. I guess this gun falls somewhere between that, as a light, higher-caliber weapon. Any chance we could see an RPK-style drum magazine instead of the usual belt-in-box? We already have 3 or 4 belt-fed weapons (unsure as to what the Peacemaker is). Variety is the spice of life. |
