I thought we needed another assault rifle... so I looked on Wikipedia through their list of ARs, and I liked this Spanish made one... It may be a plain AR, but I think just having more of these weapon types would be better for fun! That and I need to learn how to model better... http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h77/O ... Have you seen my designs for ARs? They all look the same anyways, or a majority do. That and my attempt at a custom design sucked when I made it into Maya (the MWS13, remember?). Edit: I got further along the design, and I now have the stock added to it. The stock isn't from the CETME L though. It's an XCR's stock, so I'm hoping to get it look right with the gun. I think it's a bit short for a stock, but that will be easy to adjust later on. ![]()

Progress update! I'm on v12 now, and I've added the handle, plus the trigger. All I need now, finally, is stuff on the barrel tip, front ironsights, rear ironsight details, clip, trigger guard, and some other minor things I probably should throw in. ![]() Edit: Please no replies of "Ha! That... mignt not be a bad idea! Maybe that's how this will be a bit of a different weapon from the others! Edit: For now, I just got on a simple banana mag. Here's what v18 looks like: ![]() v19 now has removed the rear sights, and replace the top with a Picatinny Rail. Bah how do you stand using the bevel tool in maya? I suppose you use it on the grip. |

Mostly I'm using the tools to simply cut faces, extrudes, and also some bit of deleting faces or edges at times of need. Oh, and that face adding tool (I can't remember what they called each tool)... Honestly, I've not cared to use the chamfer tool. It sucks. Although... I do have to move each individual vertex quite often... |

The chamfer edge/bevel tool in maya sucks. In max it's perfect. :3 Do you care about triangles in your topology? I find using triangles in a model for anything else than sharp points to be sinful. |

I try to only care about the triangles and such when I'm attempting to reduce the number of faces on a large one that had to be partially extruded in an odd shape. Got 2 pics for you guys to look at now! ![]() ![]() Right now, all I really need to do is fix up some optimizations on the Reflex Sight (I can probably save about 50 or so UVs by doing some less detailed bits on parts you never can see) and the stock. That stock optimization included adding more polys to the main bit of the stock and the cylinders going to the shoulder rest. |

Wel this is pretty real to a few different guns put together. I've added a picatinny rail to the top and also to the bottom of the gun, so you could technically upgrade the gun. That rear sight looked hideous.... I think it looks much nicer with a reflex sight fitted on the rear of the top picatinny rail. The gun is basically now done, so if someone would like to do animations, and textures, then we can all get this one into UT2k4! I can easily get the code done myself, so that much won't be a bother. That is actually a quite simple part; it's basically just needing code from something like the R9, and then just give it normal firemodes like the other ARs. Of course that reflex sight will allow me to do a different reticule just so it looks like one from a reflex sight... I can always grab a reticule shape I want and then hand it off to someone who knows how to mask parts of textures (I always seem to screw that up...). Do you think this can be rigged up on M50 animations? If you lower the grip to the level of the AH104's in that pic, it'll be about the same level as the M50's GL. By the way, the EO Tech looks a bit too tall right now, I think it'd look nicer if it were shortened a bit. |

I don't know much about trying to use the same animations, but I can shorten the height of the EO Tech. It is a bit tall... Eh, always fixable! |

Thanks Kien! Just not for AR weapons? Here's a decent side view pic of the gun. It looks like the magazine is just simply part of the gun... however texture should fix THAT up!

I actually did. It's just not able to be seen by the lighting angle I got apparently. It's .0625 units inward IIRC. |

Xavious should have the Blender model of this, and I need someone to UV map this, texturize, animatize, and I'll codify the gun. Com'on, it's not even that far from being done! |

Cool, this time i need some inspiration, give me a description, a photo, oomething like that, it should probably make it easier to make, like with when was texturing Xav's chainsaw, it wasn't until he showed me what the real version looked like that i realised hat i had placed the parts in the wrong areas...

Well, post number one will give you the photos. I used those 2 to actually model the gun, but they should also give some good direction of where to go for texturizing the gun. Of course, I'd like it to be black or dark gray rather than that olive green. As for the reflex sight, there actually needs to be one sheet added to it so it has a texturizable screen. That way, we can add the reflex sight red dot reticule. However, I can handle that texture myself, it just needs to be added on with a simple sheet on the gun itself. |

New update! I have now created a mostly finished ASSAULT SCOPE. What makes this scope different from all the scopes in ALL of BW is the simple fact that... you actually look through this one! ![]() ![]() ![]() I've now got an ironsights attachment. This is a much lower poly item on the gun than most other parts, so it actually is the base version of the gun too. I've decided when I get all this said and done, there will be 3 gun versions I will release: CMS8 (ironsights attached), CMS8 A (reflex sight), and CMS8 B (assault scope attached). This will be done so it can fake having upgrades to the gun. All 3 versions can have a silencer attached on-the-fly. ![]() Edit: Moved topic to Models/Animations section. It didn't feel in the right place over in Works in Progress.... although it might be one, it's still specifically a gun MODEL that will soon be having ANIMATIONS. Yeeaahh... |
